Graphics card unrecognized with 15" Laptop display
Laptop specs:
Dell XPS 15 (7502X) Intel i7 Quad Core 2.2ghz 8GB ram 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium Nvidia Mobile 540m with 2gb memory Driver version 8.17.13.142 I tried to run this game on my laptop, which has decent specs. It fails to recognize the Nvidia card and only will let me use the "Intel" integrated graphics (cpu) from the drop-down menu. This gave me about ~5fps at the native 1366x768 resolution. Pretty much unplayable. I connected via HDMI cable to my Panasonic 32" flat screen. Bam, the game recognizes the nvidia mobile 540m card and runs flawlessly. Just thought you all would want to know about this problem. I do know that my drivers are about 2 months old but honestly I don't think that's the issue. I think the problem is specifically with the laptop display. I have seen this happen once or twice in other games. Good thing I like playing on my TV. :) |

That definitely helps! I also did a bit more poking around in the Nvidia Control Panel and found that you can set the default graphics processor under 3D Settings>Manage 3D Settings. In the Global Settings tab I set the preferred processor to the Nvidia card.
However, I did find an issue in the Nvidia settings, which may be an issue that would need taken up with Nvidia. That is, this game "Client.exe" shows up as Phantasy Star Online 2 in the Program Settings menu. I unsuccessfully tried to add the "Client.exe" again to the list of programs, and it still appears as Phantasy Star Online 2. Weird issue with the Nvidia CP there. Hope this information helps another person if they have this issue so they don't have to right click the "client.exe" each time to choose a processor. |

I'm not sure if it's an issue with GGG needing to update something on their .exe or if the issue is with Nvidia not recognizing the game because it is so new.
I submitted a ticket with Nvidia as well so if I remember I'll come back and update this thread. |

I am having almost the same issue. I have a GeForce 540M in my samsung 17inch laptop.
I knew the trick with Nvidia control panel since many games seem to prefer the integrated card but when I add the client.exe it appears as phantasystarr online. The biggest problem tho, is that I cannot change any settings for the exe! I have my 540M set as the default device but the game still wont accept it. My FPS is almost at an unplayable level due to this. I guess I will have to go below my native resolution untill this gets fixed. |

I'm also having the same problem. Anyone from GGG want to help those who are graphic's card challenged?

" What kind of graphics card and/or laptop do you have, ShadowsFury? If you mouse over the icons by the clock on your start bar, do one of those options look like a graphics card driver? Balance & Design

I end up copy "client.exe" to another name "pathexcile.exe"
Then I will be able to add this new file name to Nvidia control panel and set it default to use Nvidia GPU instead of crappy Intel Integrated. " |
