Clearly OP doesn't know wtf he's talking about.
The death penalty encourages smart play and not to solely focus on "dps". Because let's be honest, if there was no death penalty very few would bother to increase their survivability. Is there lag issues and performance issues ? Yes IT'S BETA and i have been victim myself of desync, fps drops ect which resulted in death. But to say that it's a bad outdated design is moronic. " it sounds like you are dying a lot, so you haven't embraced the challenge. what we find challenging, you find as obstacles in the way of your easy-mode grinding. If the game was simply a grindfest hack and slash with no challenge, you wouldn't be here writing about things that you want changed (and you probably wouldn't be playing the game at all). Penalty for death makes you care about death, which makes you careful when playing and planning your character. |

I personally love the death penalty, makes you work, makes you improve! Also I think I've only died once due to any sort of lag / desync problem Pretty amazing for a beta if you ask me! |

" Maybe they should add a death-counter per level and whenever you manage to complete one without dying you get 10% exp free for the next one. I do not think its bad, however, I think the 15% is too heavy.
That being said, since I am on my second playthrough and I think Cruel is 7% which for me is still alot of EXP gone. I am just glad you can't lose more than the level you are at. So when i am in a tough area or boss ect. I make sure I level elseware before the boss encounter and go in with 0-5% exp so if I die, it matters not. I know that may seem like a bad method but, other than not dying I did not know what else to do. Some mobs just eat me up like chaos ranged mobs in packs just destroy me. I died my fair share, My first play through was run in, throw portal up, dps as much as you can, die go back, repeat until boss is dead or area is cleared. But because of the death, exp loss, I am learning how to play my class a bit more effective, without dying so much, and understanding the skills I am using, and auras. Gear has been a lackluster thing though. Just seems you have to find a normal piece of gear with the sockets you want and the links you want, then upgrade to piece to a rare and keep rolling that piece with Chaos orbs until you get what you want. Am I missing something with that? Or just get lucky on drops, i have not found much in terms of things I wanted to keep |
