The -15% exp penalty is obnoxiously bad outdated design.

All that went through my mind is that you're a noob who keeps dying. The experience penalty is not a bad or outdated feature. IF there was no penalty then there would barely be a challenge. With a experience penalty people are forced to play more intelligently, develop strategies, and fight to survive.

theres should be a very very expensiv orb to evade death penalty (around Divine Orb)

If you have one of the Orbs in your Stash the game ask you when you die: "You want to use the Orb or do you want the Death Penalty?"

Maybe at a higher lvl the amount of consumed Orbs per Death should increase. Than the Orb Value should be around a Chaos and could look like this:
1 of the Ressurect orbs per Death betweeen lvl 1-70
2 .... lvl 71-75
3 .... lvl 76-80
4 .... lvl 81-85
5 .... 86-90
10 .... 91-95
20 .... 96-100

People who not die get rich, people who die often need to buy alot of this orbs. In HC there should be not dropping (or should be tradable at the Vendor for 1 chaos)

The problem with the xp loss is that there is no way to get some of it back. The diablo 2 version would be much better, even if u had to run for ur corpse without items to get 75% of lost xp back.

Death should hurt, even in Default.

XP penalty is fine.
Right now the game is having latency issues that make it borderline unplayable. That is the real issue. Making the game easier due to a temporary situation like that... it shows a lack of foresight.

I personally like the exp penalty though.
It makes the game exciting :)

You can choose to play the game anyway you want. That's the beauty. Some people will do what you said, some people will brave forward. They both can die, sometimes you see 3 lightning arc casters 3 levels below you and you think you're fine. Then all 3 of them crit twice in a row in seconds and somehow you died. Even though you have 80% lightning resist and shit. You aren't forced to be super cautious. It's a player decision and that's what's beautiful. Hardcore is amazing, it gets your heart furiously pumping and your hands sweating.
