The -15% exp penalty is obnoxiously bad outdated design.

If you are grouping with malicious players, AND don't have an adequate escape mechanism to avoid just standing there getting 'wiped' by an 'over-pull' (this isn't WoW, it's not at all hard to 'drop aggro'...), it's your own damn fault. That's what yastru means by keeping you on your toes.

Game is cutthroat. This is why loot, and XP, was deliberately designed this way.

I think XP loss is fine on default - I would advocate the mobs being able to loot your corpse and that loot going into the assigned loot pool for you OR someone else who kills that mob.

XD
In other games - you get a cookie whether you win or lose. PoE not only takes your cookie and eats it in front of you, it slaps you upside the head a few times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
God the retarded builds I could do if there was no death penalty....

Death penalty makes it so defensive passives and builds are valuable instead of worthless. Also, the fear of death makes things WAY more fun in maps.

Having exp loss in a grindy game where you can randomly go 3000+ -> 0hp in the span of 3 seconds is retarded design.

Now add in bad netcode, rubberbanding, invisible projectiles and burning aura mobs that still do full damage 3/4 of the screen away(in your client) and this is the complete opposite of fun.

beta.

There has to be a penalty for dying. What would you like it to be?

LOL, didn't play UO for very long (crappy computer back then) but EQ's version was your gear stayed on your corpse and if you didn't make it back in time, poof, gone. There was an experience loss also that could de-level you. I think I was 17 twenty-four times on my ranger (yeah, yeah, I sucked). 15% loss, piece of cake.

lol. God these new players is mindblowing haha
So if there was no exp-loss, why would you want to avoid dying?
I mean, you can´t implement repaircosts on death (despite the fact that this approach failed utterly in another arpg) as there is no gold.

Why would you even use defensive things if you could die without any problem whatsoever?
Maybe I miss your point, but what IS your point?

I just don't get the point of leveling if you can't loose xp on it? i mean, in that case, get a bot to do it for you? oh wait...
