free unlimited respec on passive skill (or a sandboxed Free Unlimited Respecs League)

As long as it was isolated to it's own scrub league I wouldn't care, but I don't want it anywhere near the real game.

Yeah, but if ever the derogatory 'softcore league' could be used, wouldn't we use it here? Hardcore is all about one life, one death; 'default' is many lives, many deaths, one path; 'softcore' would be 'many lives, many deaths, many paths'.

...In short, softcore would be removing that one last major 'mistake' a PoE player can make, should try very hard not to make, and yet can gently undo if he or she really wants. Hardcore punishes 'present tense' mistakes; restricted respec punishes 'past tense' mistakes. Softcore would remove both, effectively wrapping the harsh but exciting experience of Wraeclast in a nice warm blankie with a bottle of milk.

....Meh, I say.
And they said *I* was bad at PoE. At least I made it out of act 1 and know how to use the /dnd function. El oh fucking el.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
What's funny here is that the respec is only needed for new players (don't kid yourself, the game is quite easy once you know it and where to look at).

No respec only means kicking new players in the nuts. It doesn't change anything for the veterans.

There is respect exactly for that. They can maybe increse it a little from quests, but there is no need for free respect like they used and fuck up d3.

Hm, that's kind of a good point... It's often just when someone is starting out a new class that they realize they wanted to go a different direction.

Perhaps there could be a one-off 'amnesia quest' somewhere around the first or second act, and once someone gets beyond that point, then they can no longer go back and complete it (additionally, it could be missing from the Cruel, Ruthless, etc. difficulties).

Anyway, I'm just jawing, here. Personally I like the current system.

For all I care softcore can burn in hell, but at the same time people will associate softcore as part of the overall game and I don't want to let the causal newb friendly bullshit get a foot inside the door, cause we all know just how fast that crap can spread and ruin a game.

2 points aren't enough to fix the 15 points you dropped to reach a node, just to discover it sucks.

Respec is useful for noobs and useless for veteran, but the current system is also useless for noobs.

Well, my experience from different respec systems is that accessibility is actually affecting diversity. If respec is pretty limited, most players tend to play a safe path and in the end there are just few used builds with few weirdos here and there.

If respec system is pretty much free, players are not afraid to experiment and actually it's much more difficult to find people with same or similar builds.. people are really having fun with their stupid and weird builds and trying to beat the game and see how far they can get with their builds.

So if you will look at it from this point of view, respec league could be easily more "hardcore" than default league..

My experience is totally different. You first character will be the most safe build. But when you finish him you have learned the system and can experiment. If there is free respect, your not experimenting, you searching for best possible build, and in the end all will have same build. You will see a build from another and copy it on the moment. Free respect is stupid to have in this game, and im glad that it willl never hapen. For leagues i dont care, you can fly and have god mode in them, just don't touch the default league
Well, i see problem for noobs, maybe have 1 total free respect for every character that you can use only 1 time. That way you'll not punish the noobs, and you can't exploit becose its free, but limited to use only once.
