" Whether the crit rolls for each spark or for each cast won't really matter. Either X proportion of your casts will be all crit-ing sparks, or X proportion of the sparks amongst all your casts will be crit-ing. It's just a matter of distribution. Example math (arbitrary numbers): 20 casts of 5 sparks, with 10% crit chance = 100 total sparks. Either of the entire batch 10% will crit (so 10 of the sparks), or 10% of the casts will be shoot out 5 crit-ing sparks (2 casts * 5 sparks = 10 crit-ing sparks). It's just a matter of whether the crit-ing sparks are in concentrated batches (crit roll per cast), or spread evenly among your spark output over time (crit roll per spark). And while I'm not sure which way it will work, Freezing Pulse will benefit most from rolling a crit on each individual pulse rather than by cast, because it isn't advantageous for overlapping pulses to crit on a monster twice. It's better to have the crits spread among the individual pulses, thus maximizing the total area of crit coverage (and there of freezing). Based on GGG's descriptions of how crits will interact not with multi-proj type skills, but multi repeating attack skills, I'm going to guess that crits are rolled for the attack, and not for individual projectiles released simultaneously. It will mean less calculations client-side, which will protect synch will server side that teeny bit more. Last edited by Proslambanomenos#0070 on Apr 5, 2013, 10:59:37 AM

" I've been waiting for something like zeal since early, early closed beta. It's just frustrating having to wait even longer after the patch is out. I seriously doubt, unless I spend everything I got, I'll be able to afford a multistrike. I agree that the price will eventually go down. But in how long? Not an enjoyable wait at all, especially since I just made a character to be ready for this patch. :( |

"So you built and leveled a character based on a skill that you haven't seen or used...why are you surprised things didn't work as planned? Let's see, you had a 1-sentence preview of melee splash from a news post to base your presumptions on, weighted against the fact that, aside from increased duration, not a single support gem in the game works on the chaos damage over time portion of viper strike. hmmmmmmmmmmmm, must be because "GGG hates melee"... :O |

" I don't understand why people would complain about this? It's a super early leveling bow which is really only impactful in races. Nobody in any race will have a +2 while you are stuck with a +1 since each one is a fresh league and you can't access your permanent league stash. If it were an end-game item, the QQ would be reasonable, but not in this case. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

Silly, question, that would probably require someone with Alpha access to answer...
Does multi-hit function in ranged attacks that are also flagged as melee (IE Frenzy and Elemental Hit)? I am assuming my elemental archer can't benefit from it in EH, but I figured I might as well ask :p [edit] just to clarify, I mean when used as a ranged attack, I would hope they work when used as a melee attack Last edited by ShadowyDream#4629 on Apr 5, 2013, 11:19:19 AM

Bummer, planned to use multistrike on my ranger. I guess I can try splash, but it really isn't what I was going after.

What is a big deal about silverbranch,
it's just a level 5 bow which you will never use after max 10 levels. Nothing special stat except good leveling potential after lvl 5... If they make same nerf about kaom's heart and keep older ones not nerfed then SAY it laud that you don't want it, but they will not do such thing. For example they changed (buff or nerf) Voll's Protector and it includes old one because Voll's Protector has some unique passives. |
