Respecing tree requires alot of clicks to complete the respec no way in hell players will deal with this kind of burden before each boss, people will just start experimenting with their build how they can make it so it feels good to them

Atm i have alot of way i want to test my build to make it feel better but its just not worth it, atm its a big waste of resources that takes way to long to farm

Me personally i dont want to look up video on build i just want to make my build fun for me and now its pretty much impossible without spending 100 hours of farming not even counting the possibility of me completly breaking my build which will most likely make me stop playing

To end even after they make the respac free and people will abuse it with ur example it simple to prevent it just allow players to only respec ur skill tree when the map u opened is completed problem solved

Some adjustments are probably in need. I have had the pleasure of respecking a bunch of nodes. It's hardly ever that you just need one or two points respec, in my case it was a pathing error, I could save 3 skills points... but I needed like 20+ refunds. I'd imagine it's even more extreme for new players who might end up taking bunch of nodes that don't really affect them, before having to refund half the tree.

Should it be free ? Probably not, plenty of reasons listed in the thread already, but it should certainly be inconsequential until about lvl70. Not to mention we need gold to gamble for better items, which is a MASSIVE gold sink...

I think this should be addressed.

During lvling i really struggle with money cos loot isn't great so i have to buy items from vendor or gamble.

now lvling phase is a phase when you want to play with the passives to find out what works best for you and I simply can't afford it.

At this stage i cant update my gear because i need to save money for respect points.

Current system doesn't prevent anyone from experimenting. What it does prevent is - unticking your whole tree at once instead of trying particular branches and unticking few nodes at a time to try something different.

Game is suppose to be fun.

Respec cost is just another outdated system without any good reason to exist except "we always did it that way". Just like identification scrolls and inventory tetris (to mention few).

Any non-flexible system like that only encourages cookie-cutter builds and play-by-guide instead trying out stuff.

PoE1 UX was already outdated on release decade ago, why clinging to it. There are a lot of "pure" QoL improvements that will benefit PoE2 without compromising gameplay.

I yet to see a one good reason why free respac is bad

When making the respac free just adjust the gold drop and it will level up u still need gold to buy items from vendors, use currency exchange

They can also add a gold fee while crafting using expedition npc's there is planty of ways to make gold matter in a fun way

But to restrain players from the main fun objective about the game which is their character is just very bad exerience

They're free to make another character or gather money to reset completely.
The reason they can't have it INSTANTLY is the same reason you don't start the game having all and every item instantly available to you.
If one want THIS level of instant gratification, there are always mobile gacha games for them, there they could get powerful at a speed of bank transaction.

What do u mean handed to you i already hit the levels which i got points for them so i want to use them and if i make and error and outcome of it is the damage is bad or the build is just unfun i dont want to get punished by that and i want to change it.

Its as simple as that and also why u bring items to conversation about passive points its a completly different area irrelevant.

I just have one question for you. How would it affect YOU personally if they added free respeccing into the game? Why are you so against it? How does other people respeccing for free affect your game experience? Just curious.

cost 100% needs to be reduced. I think respec being free until around lvl 20 wouldn't be too bad of an idea though.
