Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

One death every 10 maps because you decide to do a 25 magic pen on top of triple damage conversion and soulstealer modifiers is on you. People bitched about it for a decade on POE where you could lose up to 60% there.. and they will never remove it.

Ever. No matter how much you cry about it.

If most players aren't dying at least 1 out of 10 normal maps and 1 out 4 to bosses, the content is too damn easy and needs to be rebalanced.

Ok then they should just add an easier difficulty league that people can choose with no penalties for death. That way everyone is happy and your gameplay isn't affected at all.

Or people could just understand that not every game is made for everyone.
POE has always been like this. Alot of us enjoy it and want it to stay.
GGG has said repeatedly in interviews why they are keeping it in the game and alot of us agree.

This is their normal difficulty.
Imagine, on full release they make a ruthless difficulty.

I doubt that will happen and I doubt they will make any changes. Path of Exiles original ORIGINAL 2012 BETA TESTING was suppose to be catered towards HARDCORE only. They toned it down a tiny bit.. but POE2 as been stated as what POE should have been.

This is something you will have to deal with... like yourself and a few others.. I literally hated the death penalty; I was stuck at 89-90 for a whole week I didn't level after nearly 100 maps.. and I told myself I was going to quit.. Why did I keep dying?

Because I had become complacent within the game thinking pushing maps that even the top players wouldn't consider playing. Why? because I was so use to PoE mapping.. well this isn't PoE and as soon as I overcame this I saw GGGs intentions more clearly. I see what they want for the game and how they want to present it. It has grown on me a lot and I respect that.

Thats exactly the point.

Noone cares if they need 5 tries to kill a new boss. Noone cares about dying in a map. What ppl care about is that they need to get a time planer to plan ahead on when they might have their current level done so they can attempt this without burning down their XP. Thats what makes the game incredible boring.

There needs to be content that expect players to die on the first attempts and is still fair enough to be done without playing a meta build that ignores mechanics and melts everything in 5s.

No, people will not "deal with it". They simply quit. GGG will have to do something to attract back a large enough number of players otherwise this game simply won't make enough profits to survive as a live-service f2p game.

200-300k still playing and not complaining. 3 weeks in. Playing an unfinished, unpolished, buggy mess of a game with barely any endgame. Instead of one with 10+ years of history and endless content.

We will have 500k-1M league launches once the game is actually out. I'm not worried about GGG's future. In fact, they already made back the cost of making PoE 2 several times over.

Softcore IS the ez difficulty setting, we dont need to have a 2x softcore/ complete moron difficulty setting to split the community even further. So in the end like u probably heard many times during ur excessive amount of xp loss on death whine on this forum "git gud" or move on to something else cause xp loss is here to stay and this game is clearly not for u.

Lol, how many of that 200-300k got to endgame ? probably under 10%
We will see when all the other 90% will get to end game .. if they ever do.
Going like this PoE2 will become just another PoE1 where you and another dozen of players will play it.
If that is what you want to support go ahead and be ignorant.
BTW I see more and more threads and videos of ppl noticing this exact issue. Time wasting hardcore mechanics wrapped into softcore environment.
I was looking to buy the extra tabs and a cosmetic I liked (I got a free code) while playing in the last 3 weeks because I liked the campaign. One hour into endgame and realizing what a big waste of time it is I just quit.

The hardcore fans will stay cause they love this challenge. Im having a blast solving the puzzle of defence vs damage and figuring out how far i can push myself with map mods without dying too much. If u followed any videos before release u would know that GGG made it quite clear that this game would be harder and slower than poe 1, so it should be pretty obvious what audience it was made for. Besides like i already said that is exactly the audience that stays year after year and puts their money in supporter packs
