It's not the exp penalty.
It's wasted time.
UI wastes my time.
Selling items wastes my time
Using maps wastes my time
go through my inventory wastes my time
taking trash back to town to break down into garbage, wastes my time
tials of suckmyass, wastes my time
Then and only then the cherry on top.
You died , lose 3 hours of your time.
Then you ask yourself.
What did I get today for this 4-5 hours.
NOTHING, not a thing.
Not a drop, no gear, no item progression, no skill tree progression.
and got NEGATIVE exp gain for the day.
You realize, hey if i didn't login, id be stronger.
Be realistic.....this shouldn't really happen to any player. Not a single one. Also, everything about playing a game is about "using your time". You aren't watching a movie (which even that....wastes your time).
I have 400 hours on one character.
I do not use the market or trade.
I do not play spark or herald builds.
I don't pay for carries.
If i didn't have a goal im doing for my own interest, i wouldn't be playing.
I stopped creating new characters as soon as i started failing in the 3rd trial.
I played yesterday for 5 hours.
Didn't level
been wearing the same gear for weeks
You think my time isnt being wasted :)

You still played for 5 hours, after playing for 400+. So no.....none of that time is wasted, otherwise you would have quit long ago. No one who isn't at least somewhat entertained is putting in that ridiculous amount of time. Especially not in a single day.
Also, literally doesn't matter if you are SSF or off-meta. It is IMPOSSIBLE to play for that length of time and have nothing to show for it. It might not be a new piece of gear, but you certainly have materials TOWARDS a new piece of gear.
Either that.....or you have learned nothing about the game in 400+ hours. That's a YOU problem.
I'd also point out that there are plenty of players who can go YEARS without ever changing their gear. So what? This is pretty natural for character progression. You can always start a new character if the stagnance is too much.
You need to get at least the slightest bit of self-awareness my friend.

Problem is GGG's stubborn stance on making the game punishing through BS mechanics like volatile plants and overtuned monster damage.
Honestly, I think GGG actually promotes toxic behavior with how some things are implemented.
So in a way, I hope it stays the same. Players who derive their self worth and esteem off a video game need to play something (and it won't be most of the modern stuff, and kids/teens aren't gonna play PoE2), GGG can nurse their mental health to trash, and I can feed off the toxicity lol

I know i could be playing spark.
I know i could be playing heralds
I know i could buy all of my gear from the store
I know i could be paying for carries
But I also know by not doing it and playing the game without the crutches.
That i know EXACTLY what im talking about.
Nobody goes YEARS with the same gear in this game bub.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
I actually play the game they produced, i advance by slamming orbs and finding crap on the ground, which is why I KNOW the game has serious issues.
The MAJOR one it wastes our time. Cause it may be fun ... it aint that fun

doesn't seems convincing. You've spend 400 hours and couldn't upgrade your gear for weeks while you are unable to even finish the 3rd trial!?
A little bit self-awareness would probably help and asking for help instead thinking you don't need it would be the right attitude with your... experience.

I don't believe a word of this....and none of what you posted makes a lick of sense if you truly KNOW the game.
Your major gripe: "the game wastes our time" combined with "I played 400+ hours, 5 hours YESTERDAY" ..... don't really go together.
Seriously dude.....read your posts. Make sense of it to me. What part of your time is being wasted that you keep choosing to waste it lol?
And your descriptions of "game knowledge".....don't measure up to your confidence that you are right. Nor this idea of wasted time.
Based on what you have said so far, I have little reason to "trust you". Remind me again how your 400 hours were wasted, along with the 5 you played yesterday? I bet you also played a handful of hours today too, even after writing your post.
