I wish I had never supported you
I prefer it would be Pay 2 Play and we get all the Stash tabs for free. But this is an okay monetization system. Its not bad.
I agree with most of __rt__'s points. But it is a case where you try to appreciate what works, and enjoy the game if the good outweighs the bad. Games with a F2P model are always "corrupted" so to speak from the design board. Everything in the game is designed around the F2P revenue. So whether it is P2W is irrelevant. It is a bit of a shame that POE2 is going to be more of the same F2p/MTX model, it might have been the opportunity to do something different. With the league model, coulnt they add every league as a sort of DLC? Like you have these games on Steam that have loads of addons with maps and stuff. |

And yeah I agree also with __rt__ in that I think it is obvious, that the reason why GGG has so much focus on RNG, is because of the F2P model.
I'm pretty sure they are convinced that RNG mechanics keep players engaged and returning for more. Let's be honest, when you watch people doing POE1 maps on stream, its like watching someone play slot machine. Which is not entirely wrong, there is a soothing, relaxing element, to that sort of gameplay. The fact that it is addictive doesnt make it inherently bad. But the fact that the game is F2P definitely forces the devs into "tuning" the game around a lot of RNG mechanics as well as adding unnecessary complexity into the systems. |

GGG mutilated this genre for gambling addicts that pretend their 0-1 button blow up the screen builds are playing a video game.
POE2 was supposed to fix this but they gave up and succumbed to greed (again). |

The only one benefitting from this are those streamers doing one shot on boss.

Great conversation going on here. Thanks to OP for starting it, and rt and akedo for good contributions.
The only thing I'd like to add is actually just emphasizing the "bad relationship" part that akedo mentioned. Some people may not have caught the "demoralization" aspect I put out the other day (wouldn't expect most people have, I'm not that special :P) But, that's kind of what I was talking about, demoralization from being abused. Then to add the gambling addiction aspect of it when you're zooming with some OP build. This is not meant to be played like an ARPG. That's why the zoom builds are always there. It's meant to be a zoomfest casino simulator. For all the bells and whistles, it actually just comes down to something that simple. I hope GGG can turn this around, but with Tencent at the helm, I don't know. I hope for the best, but expect the worse. |

The RNG is the only reason people play these games for more than a few weeks. IN terms of combat it's just point and click. There's nothing deep going on here. And slowing down the gameplay and making it so that you have to CC a few enemies and dodge around a bit more etc. Isn't going to make this a deep video game in terms of combat mechanics.

I agree with OP, stalling points where you find it hard to progress for whatever reason such as not being able to upgrade gear due to a wonky crafting system.
POEII is fun and annoying at the same time because of balance issues. POEII can annoy people, and they vent on these forums. What I don't like seeing is people being obnoxious and having to disagree with someone else's opinion. Who the fuq does that? You wonder why the people don't bother responding? What's even worse is when someone lazily comments and doesn't even contribute to the conversation. Again, who the fuq does that?! I'm sure the game will receive lot's more treatment in the future in regards to stalling points and balancing issues. People are going to be jumping back on when the other 3 acts come out. |
