PoE 2 Doesn't Need PoE 1 Crafting System
" Same. While crafting can be great in PoE1... I mean, I mainly make my currency with crafting items, but the bloat and stuff that is rarely useful is nothing I need in PoE2. Sure, some special currencies like "Eldrich Currency" would be awesome, or fossil crafting, or beast crafting. But if it ends up again with: "use 2500 ALteration Orbs to get the ONE single mod you want, then beast crafting to annul one mod because you rolled two, then missing the annul, beast craft again - annul - miss again, repeat... annul - yay I hit the right mod, then proceed with the next thing that needs a ton of tries and can brick half way through yadda yadda... nah. There has to be a middle ground where PoE2 crafting is a thing, but not as tedious as PoE1. |

" You are exactly correct. That's exactly what they are asking for when they say "I want Poe 1 crafting" back. The ability to spam 1 item ad nauseum and never pick up any other base from the ground again. GGG wants people to pick up ground loot like they used to once upon a time. Poe 1 used to be a slow and methodical game. You also used to look at ground loot too. So many people didn't play Poe 1 during that time so the only thing they know is "full screen aoe fireworks while moving at 5000 mph and loot filters filtering out 99% of the things that drop." So in a way I don't blame them cause they don't know anything else. Once upon a time you couldn't just run up to a pack of blue monsters mindlessly cause you had to hover over them and read their mods before you engaged. Blue monster were scary, especially when accompanied by rares with auras. Our movement speed "flask" was spamming phase run after it's cooldown ended. We had 2 life flask and 2 mana flask and 1 utility flask. I remember when they posted this Video. All of us, at the time, in Global chat and the forums were like "HOLY SHIT 3 ATTACKS PER SECOND. THAT'S SO FUCKING FAST". Look at how fast we attack/cast/move now LUL. I went on a little "Back in my day" rant, but what I was getting at is GGG's vision for Poe 2 is a return to what they had originally wanted for Poe 1 before they they left the stratosphere. Ground loot being important was one of their original selling points "back in my day". We'll have to see how that turns out as the game progresses, but if your idea's for Poe2 are just "Port this over from Poe1", even when it goes against their Poe2 design philosophy, then my answer to that is "Why don't you just play Poe1?" |

" That's actually my biggest complaint over the last few years with PoE1. Gear from the ground is 99% of the time useless. The only thing you show on your filter is the best base with the optimal ilvl to craft on and some items that can have unique mods like "delve" or "incursion" - that's it. Additionally, the "zoom zoom" gameplay... why tho!? We reached a point where 100m DPS with 500k defence and 500 movementspeed while nuking multiple screens is just a thing you can get with a little bit of investment. Man... we had times where "1m Shaper DPS" was awesome and you were able to clear the game with it, well... besides 100% Deli maps, but mostly. So many builds were actually viable, but now you are basically trolling if you don't play meta and/or know exactly what you are doing - and to be clear - many don't know. I hope they don't turn PoE2 into PoE1.5, if I want to play PoE1 - I play PoE1. |

" While I agree and appreciate your point of view, my problem with this is they very clearly have shown us through various ways that they have no intention of making anything BETTER. Only more tedious. How many leagues did we fall or "Redesign" just to see it was really a 100% removal/nerf. Since 3.14 they have not made anything better, only slowly stripped things away league after league, and remade them intentionally significantly worse... WITHIN POE 1. Why on earth in a more gotcha type game would they do anything but double down? GGG only knows how to double down. And the name of their focus the last 3 years has been TEDIUM. They are in love with making every single aspect of the game as tedious as humanly possible. We can't even level our gems anymore we have to buy gems levels. They found a way to make us pay for goddamn levels even... It's a shockingly disturbing vision problem. This isn't an EA thing, this is GGG having a horrible vision for us. |

" You know, personally I think that PoE1 peaked with "Ultimatum" (3.14), BUT for the opposite reason. While the remade league mechanics were made worse... I hate how insane the power creep has become and how easy it is to surpass power levels that would have been a mirror item in every single slot a few years ago. I mean, you can reach "DoT cap" on a league starter with mid-gear, for example. " To be honest, I don't understand this part, like literally. Wdym with "we can't level them anymore" and "we have to buy them"? |

" The gem system in POE 2 is a gotcha to make us have to waste currency even getting a simple level 20 gem. I have 2 level 95's and a 93, and a few 80's.. I put in a lot of hours. I found 1 6 link -- 1. I had to buy all the others. To me that's intentionally hostile design. |

" Ah. I think they could improve the rarity of level 20 gems too, but with 6-links I don't see an issue in rarity. In PoE1 we only had 1-2 6-links anyway and in PoE2 we could theoretically 6-link all our gems. The issue I have with the new system is not the rarity, it's the system itself. I don't like that we 6-link the gem itself and would prefer to 6-link the gem slot of the character. So if I've 6-linked a slot I can swap my gems as much as I want. |

It doesn't have to be poe1 crafting, but it should have a CRAFTING system, and if you think what exists today is crafting, I have a casino to sell you. |

" 6 links i've only found a couple, I still had to buy the majority of them I meant to include both* That said yeah I like the idea of making the slots on the character asnd not the gem itself be linked -- it makes sense and is less hostile to the player. " Yeah this. However, if i remember correctly from their podcast they are quite happy with "crafting". Though Mark said it should be less "sloty" (so yeah it´s a slot machine). Arguing that they didn´t want people to just craft and ignore whats on the ground, which is very ironic because the ground loot is 99% ignored. So yeah i don´t care if the crafting system comes from PoE1 or they make something new, but it really needs something. |
