From Hype to Disappointment: How Patch 0.2.1 Ruined the Chase

I think it might be better for you to find fun that isn't dependent on other people not having fun.

So you think that someone having fun by making it a goal in-game to acquire a highly rare/sought after item is dependent on others not having fun? That's honestly not a reasonable thing to say.

There are several chase uniques, if it were just about doing something with a low chance of happening, the OP would simply update their goal to do something equally unlikely (like getting all the uniques).

Furthermore, the OP literally talks about trade value and showing off. Those are directly dependent on other people.

On a personal note. I've been caring less and less about items. I've been playing simply for the combat. The item chasing and crafting system are becoming obstacles to the enjoyable parts of the game, so I'm starting to care less and less about them.

No offense, but playing a fresh league in SSF just feels... sad. Like, are you really that much of a loner? Do you not have any friends to play with?

This is a crazy take. You're on the forums ranting instead of blowing off steam with your "friends".

Regardless pretending trade is some how "social" is a stretch. You can trade and be a absolute loner. There is nothing about the current system that encourages or forces you to interact with anyone outside of selling the item.

You don't have negotiate with suppliers, you don't have to hire employees. The current system can and has been done by bots.

Pretending that POE is social is crazy.

i found the guy who plays trade league, but never maps in a party, and joins /global and /trade 154973 so no chats can be seen, and doesnt set any tabs to public for selling.

you do you.

but that is a choice.

poe is as social as you make it/let it be.

lol I wish you could see all my characters in POE2 like you can with POE1. I don't have a single character in trade league.

I don't pretend this is a social game. When I want to be social, I go to a board and card game store and play there. OR I call actual friends and play board games with them. You know thing where you actually have to interact with people.

You're fooling yourself if you think this is an social game.

"Amoung Us" is a social game. World of Warcraft is a social game. POE is not a social game. Even Call of Duty ladder is more social than this game.

Le lolz.

Woe is you, few hundred divines clearly not good enough for chase item so you come here banging the hyperbole drum trying to generate sympathy.

More available items are, the better.. creating aritificial gates helps no one other than the trade junkies botting their items for cheap to sell at a mark up later.

+1

the only one fooling themself is you.

the only way you would be correct, is if general and trade chat was removed from the client....
as well as the invite to party button....
as well as the recruitment board....
friends list..
removing the trade website...

REMOVING A PUBLIC FN POSTING FORUM...

see where this is going?

all social functions in a video game. and they all exsist here.

you can have your opinion, or preference on how to play this game, and thats fine. you can even play SSF if you want to minimize the social aspect of it, and make it NOT a social game by doing all of the things i mentioned in my earlier post in conjunction with ssf.

but facts dont care about your opinion. or your preference.

and the fact is, this is a social game unless you literally go out of your way, to disable all of the social functions.

and by definition, having those functions, makes this a social game.

Alright, not going to argue. If you consider that being social, that explains a lot.

if you dont think the ability to talk in general chat, add someone who responds to you to your party, run a map with them, add them to your friends list, direct private message them and have a conversation, open a trade window and accept a trade from them.....

as social.

i dont want to argue with you..... or talk to you... [Removed by Support]

Yeah. This is why I feel this change is much healthier for everyone involved. A group of players has mistaken the ability to communicate with people as being social. It's like saying having a phone, is being social. Or buying food from the self-service counter as going out.

Being social is more than typing text in a box or clicking buttons to accept a trade. There is a complexity to the interaction that matters. You need to be able to build bonds, depend on each other, grow attachments, etc. None of the "features" you listed do that, or even encourage it.

They allow people who have been social in the past to continue those interactions in a limited matter, but they aren't even close to actual social interaction.

To counterpoint the OP: I ain't got anything you got. So let them make more drop. :D

I am fine with the changes to drops. It isn't raining divines for most of us. Only some of us. And as most of us unlock the ways some of us play, we get to enjoy the return on our investments.

Dunno what your chase is requiring. I still think the game is too much risk for reward. But this is an undercooked product. Until I heard drops are where we want them for 1.0, I will keep myself quiet on it.

I mean, unless I feel compelled to spout out in a thread where I feel the OP is off the mark (opinion, biased by my experiences).
