Introducing the Trade-House Idea (Offline Trading)

Remember, you'll be able to trade items directly through the forums. You don't have to arrange meetings online.

I fail to see how an AH would get rid of the people spamming the in game chat. As long it's in its own channel then it should be contained.

Craigs List works very well for being a real life trade and barter system.

I'm pretty sure that's what Chris said in the dev diary about forum item trading. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't implement it.

Anarchy Online.. MMO with (when I played) close to 100k people playing, on 2 servers. No AH, all trading on the forums/through trade chat in game. Worked fine.

If GGG wants to put in an AH that's fine with me. But, I REALLY don't think they need to. This thread will never end.

There are degrees of 'worked fine' though. AO is a decade old. A decade worth of improvements should effectively be the difference between a text MUD and WOW.

What is being suggested by you guys is a similarly scripted web front end... which could be fine, however in today's gaming environment there is no excuse to not implement an in-game solution.

Assuming the web front end works exactly like an in-game system:

I'd be all for both systems... I, and millions of other people have no desire to flip out of the game to go try to make trades... however if I'm not already in the game and don't feel like loading up the game, a web front end would be nice to have.

I guess point is... when inside the game you should be able to use a front end within the game... and when outside the game you should be able to use a web front end so you can check your stuff faster.

A truly next gen game would definitely offer both options for these reasons... albeit the design would be an AH front end, not a 'forum'

Exactly, something that can possibly take a lot of man hours versus something that won't take as much time. I would rather them implement a system that works and work on the important stuff.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.
Id also like add that they could also in future maby implement the forum trade into the game. Like goes to the website in game like someone suggested before.

This however isn't exactly a core feature.

I was thinking about this and I came up with a possible alternative.

What if you had a tab in your stash that you could put items in that you were wanting to trade (if you wanted to buy more space to have more items listed at once, maybe it could show up in the cash shop?). Anything put into that tab would automatically be listed on an in-game interface of items you wanted to trade. Then, these items would only show up to be traded when you were logged in and actively playing PoE (to prevent people from going AFK) and there could also be an option to whisper to a player who had an item listed that you were interested in. The in-game interface could be sorted by type, rarity, etc. so you could have some options to sort what it is you're looking for (they could also be linked so you could see their stats, just like in the forums). So a player could whisper you, organize a trade, meet up, and do business. This way, when items are traded, they're automatically taken out of the list of items for people to browse, since they're not sitting in the special tab of your stash. This should also help with keeping players from bumping posts or being contacting you for an item you already traded.

I would think this would really just help keep people from spamming a chat channel and would be more effective for in-game trading.

As far as a good solution goes for out-of-game, I'm not sure if there really even is one.

Why do you have to meet up with the player there could easly just be a "accept trade" button. That just makes the trade more personal and annoying. People with a heart don't like ripping people off face to face. Me on the other hand..
