Vaal skills are basically a giant noob trap.

How about making vaal skills link up with the other gems in an item even if there are no links on the item. :O

me thinks he did that so as to not take up too much time and later we see just before he shows the linked sockets he has only one fireball icon in his skill bar yet it is about half way full of charges. so IMO when the camera was off his play he may have been using the Vaal fireball gem to get some charges on it.

Lets say im using lightning arrow, im just killing some monsters as usual, and sometimes the lightning arrow does some crazy cool shit.

As earlier discussed, I don't think Vaal skills can be activated until you meet the kill requirement. The blood splat indicates a lock.

Maybe its the same gem but with two different keybinds. It gives you one for the normal use and one for the Vaal effect.

Unlikely. That would basically make the gem an "upgrade" which Qarl said it is not. Of course, I doubt the drawback is so huge it would prevent players from doing that if it were possible.
Assuming it isn't nerfed, righteous fire builds now have something to do other than just walking around. Spells will benefit more I'm guessing due to shotgunning.

I want to Quartz flask into Dominus and activate 10 of those vaal fireballs.

Well so far i'm waiting to see how it works with permanent skills such as pets, auras, or long duration ones, as they seem to be the only one worth using at first glance.

I hate spells on timers in all games, so not excited with this, i'd rather have something that works well all the time rather than a fancy spell to use once in a while. The "on kill" system is disappointing as well, it pretty much means they will be useless (mostly) on bosses, do we really need more aoe trash cleaning skills...
