Bloom in Path of Exile
If you're gonna make an option, make us able to turn the slider way down, 25% is still too much for people who don't want the unnecessary glare.
I'm already playing an eye-bleed build, the bloom added to all the effects and surfaces make me unable to see the majority of all ground effects, it looks rediculous and it's a real problem for me because it's actually killing my character sometimes. Should it have to impact actual gameplay negatively like that? |

" Totally agree as well. (As an artist myself)... I mean even when I test things sometimes it is obvious to me that my visual preference simply does not work and I tone it down. I like contrasting shades for example, made a platformer level that looked dope on a screenshot. Playing it almost gave me a headache to the point of hitting my head on the wall. And I can handle extreme visuals. At which point I thought, what the hell are players going to feel when playing this? |

Option 4: Let us reduce Bloom to 0% and the artists can deal with it because they're adults.

"Well lemme see my mtx then instead of the weird overlay... :/ (I think it's elusive effect, normally it's just a slight green glow but sometimes it bugs like this and it sucks.) Posted in bug thread too. |

I didn't even know about the bloom option. Now "Slight" is actually better, because my white shiny spectres don't pierce my retinas THAT much.

From the same authors of "Your pc can't run shadows? Your problem, buy a new one!"
Here they are with the new "Your eyes hurt whit bloom? Your problem, our artist really like it, so it will stay, buy some sun glasses!" Man i love this game, really do, but sometimes it looks like they do some decisions to make me not like it so much =/ |

Well, I guess I bought my last supporter pack. Clearly GGG doesn't respect its players enough.
Also, moving screen shake from graphics to UI to force it back on for people is just shady. Screen shake is not UI and no matter what you do, I want it off. Forcing it back on is wrong. Bloom is terrible for motion. Sure, it makes pretty screenshots, but that's it. Hopefully you can buy supporter packs with artist intentions. Last edited by Ruiner84#0458 on Jul 17, 2020, 7:32:57 PM

Less.
Is. More. Y’all. "I've played a lot of videogames. It's my primary recreational activity. Best games ever: Elden Ring and Diablo 4."

Wow. A lot of thankless, entitled whining going on...
Maybe point out solutions and specific things that need GGG's attention instead of "Turn it of." That's like telling a new player how to play the game by saying "GIT GUD." Seems to me that reducing the slight bloom to maybe 10% and accompanying it with a warning that some effects may not be visible for some displays would be a temporary solution? Or would it be possible to have some kind of slider or dropdown that shows "light / medium / full" bloom effects? Like, depending on people's systems and display configuration or even how much their graphics card lets them customize settings, everyone is going to have wildly different interpretations of what is ok. Does the bloom engine allow for materials that "absorb" light? Like, if a flare in delve is bright AF, but the dirt ground is vantablack, would it change any of the bloom blow-out? Maybe we just need a "sunglasses" filter. Windows 10 has that night filter right? turns everything amber and filters out blue wavelengths so your melatonin or whatever can get you properly sleepy? In any case, thanks GGG, for explaining the complexities and the process of how bloom works. |

Pretty sure that most modern games have the option to turn bloom off.
Unless you're playing on a console like a crazy person. I like PCs. They usually give me the choice. Like one of the new graphical fads, motion blur. I HATE motion blur. Its always off when I play something. Gimme the choice, I'm buying the product. If I dont like the blur, I can still like the rest of the product. Same deal with bloom. Come on GGG, if you're updating this for the future....the future is not LESS choice...? |
