Last Epoch is POE Killer now

Lost Ark got delayed until 2022, I think that's next on the list or did it kill POE already?

I’m sure it will be another glorious death. I’m not sure it has killed Poe yet.

I mean in all seriousness, it has more views than PoE has on Twitch and it seems that everyone is measuring the game killing potential of one game to another relative to the amount of publicity it gets, not the quality.

Which neither have. So you're stuck with the shiniest of two turds, regardless. But as long as there's the loom of PoE 2 on the horizon, the game won't die. It just promises too much.

Charan is just here giving his opinions which some are validated, some are up to debate. [Removed by support] He undeniably loved the game, sure. But, and I hope no offense is taken here, stick to playing the games and not designing them or putting out any sort of written material (any form of literature, really).

TL;DR Game's not dead until PoE 2 fails. [Removed by support]

Again, as I've said in this and other threads, an actual PoE "death" or being "killed" by another game just isnt going to happen.

What is far more likely is that PoE will be reduced to total irrelevance.

If they have few hundred players or maybe a thousand or so, and nobody cares, it's a fate worse than death. A humbling indication that you totally fucked up the golden goose, mostly due to ego.

On the flip-side, I'm sure Tencent would like nothing more than full control of both realms. I wonder if they are looking at this quarter's numbers, and not-so-secretly revelling in GGG fucking up.

You should try out Ark: Survival Evolved in that case. Singleplayer and multiplayer elements, extremely fun upgrade system, etc. And dinosaurs. Also mods for dragons and all sorts of stuff.

but POE killer when it's an entirely different genre? I don't really think so. D2R looks fun, but with no updated game systems and just a visual overhaul, that's also doubtful.

Lol. Sorry, did you just seriously offend me and then say no offense?

You might attack my writing but even I know language doesn't work that way. I don't mind if you don't like my writing. Honestly, I won't lose any sleep. But please don't preface something you know is going to be taken as hurtful with 'no offense'. Be honest. I and anyone else here deserves at least that much.

Also, its spelled "gibberish".

Anyway, your opinion is noted. I do take offence, so I'm afraid you misfired if indeed you meant none. How you could tell someone not to do something they enjoy and take some pride in based on the reactions of others and not think thatd be offensive is...baffling.

No offense but I think you are the one who needs to write less if insulting people is how you express your opinion and you think saying 'no offence' somehow changes the reality of the insult.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

One thing i really like about Last Epoch is the Steam os/Linux native support. Those games run really well

Poe used to run really well in linux

Quite pedantic. Regardless, yes I did. Sure, the sugar coating wasn't required, and some of the words might have been too much.

I don't write, fortunately. Not anything related to fiction, as is. I'm not sorry though, I know the creator can be very attached to its creation.

Perhaps, but we're far from that point now. Right now all the supposed 'PoE killers' are looking closer to total irrelevance than PoE itself is. Cos even now, when it's player numbers are way down, PoE still has more players than all of those supposed 'PoE killers' combined.

But shouldn't that mean PoE should be totally dominant, given the lack of solid competition? I mean outside 2 weeks every 3 months, PoE is limping along.

What are we really talking about then? PoE performs great about 8 weeks out the year and sucks otherwise? Not exactly a ringing endorsement...

Err...compared to them, PoE IS totally dominant. It has always had more players than all of them (Last Epoch + Grim Dawn + Wolcen) combined. The only time it didn't was during the initial days of the Wolcen launch (and even Wolcen's launch numbers were competitive only with the Steam half of PoE, not the other half). This isn't unusual, it's the norm. People here talk about how the game is doing in terms of player count relative to itself, not those other games. That is, PoE's current player numbers are compared with its past player numbers, cos there's almost never any reason to compare it with those of any of these 'PoE killers'. None of those games come close to PoE at its peak, and even now when it's down they're far off from matching it, even together. And keep in mind that they're all sold only on Steam, which is only half of PoE.
