Sorry, but that just isn't reality and it's like complaining people can't afford a Ferrari on minimum wage so it needs to be lower price. The people in the middle and bottom aren't gated by time or RNG. They are gated by knowledge and their limited ability to target items and/or generate wealth in a highly efficient manner.

Knowledge is what gets you into mapping in less than 10 hours played.
Knowledge is what gets you into end-game farming after a couple days played.
Knowledge is what gets you farming multiple exalts per hour.
Knowledge is what allows you to craft in the most efficient and cost effective manner the things you want or can sell for profit.

The Veiled modifier that increases quality on equipment was required to maximise the Energy Shield from an item. This is a problem because you cannot pick up the best Energy Shield items off the ground.

Energy Shield is most often used with leech and regeneration like Life, rather than embracing its unique recharge mechanic.

A few specific mechanics grant a lot of Life Regeneration, especially with Endurance Charge stacking, but for many other sources Life Regeneration is not very powerful.


Oh so "investment" is the overarching "good" thing you believe in but when people invest in endurance charges and their effects then its bad all of a sudden. [Removed by Support]
GGG refuses to buff Melee and gives every surivability tool to Spell/Ranged/Minion Builds because they dont play the game or at least melee themself.

Mostly good stuff here, but I do have a couple of concerns:

1) "Spell Suppression" - One of PoE's most prevalent issues, especially with regards to a new players' experience, is a lack of clarity and consistently in the terminology that the game uses. There are already so many examples of mechanics in the game which are so counter-intutively labelled that new players only find out about them after watching a full work weeks' worth of Zizaran's PoE University videos, if they get that far. Don't get me wrong, Zizaran is doing yeoman work there, but why are you going out of your way to add to his workload?

Q: Why does something called Evasion suppress magic? Why would suppressing magic only protect one of its target, and not every character targeted by, e.g., and AoE spell? Why would any new player expect that to be the interaction, or understand at first glance what the relationship is there? Why not just call this Spell Evasion, since you don't want to call it Spell Dodge anymore? I've got no issues with the way this mechanic works, but please reconsider the name you're giving it.

2) Variable base defences - This is just more RNG, on top of an already RNG-heavy item system, being added to the game at a time when your player base is begging for more determinism in their gearing choices. I get wanting to keep lower droplevel bases relevant at higher itemlevels, but surely there's a more elegant way to do this?

Q: Why not reduce the base defence values (Armour, Evasion, and/or Energy Shield) of every base by that item's droplevel, and then add give an bonus to those defence values that's equal to its itemlevel? Or have a sliding scale of percentage bonuses that's based on the difference between an item's droplevel and itemlevel?

Apart from that, though... I like it.

So the 0-10% thing is stupid,
D3 has 3 tiers of items
normal (the unique item or set armor)
ancient (the unique item or set armor with boosted stats)
primal ancient (Max Stats on all mods)

What do we get for a 10% better armor/es/ev base, almost nothing. The problem with getting gear in poe is the mods on the items, not the base stats of the items.

Also the spell suppression thing is so poorly worded, what monster abilities count as a spell and what counts as an attack or just a thing the monster does. How does this effect elemental ailments the monster does, if at all.

removing dodge solves some problems, now remove block and rename it attack suppression.
The original 75% dodge. With decent evasion.
Is getting your char close to unhittable if you are able to kill fast enough for the entropy timer to reset.

This nerf was always going to come.

But now you get a improvement that evasion has never had, damage resistance against physical spells.

Jeeesh youre dramatic...wait for the patchnotes..Versatile combatent will be replaced, by something else..what exactly isnt set in stone just yet.
You can still cap block in attack / spell, it will take more of an investment though. IT will still be easier for the gladiator than for any other class.

The bleed part of the glad isnt nerfed into the ground ?

If youre having trouble building something with a decent bleed dmg, then you should follow a build guide. Or ask the community for help...

First of all, if you invested 35ex into your gear, then you got ripped off...the gear has a value of 10ex at the most.
Overall, your build is fine, you should be able to handle anything with it really :)
I have a feeling that you havnt read the entire post..
They want to give you a variety of options, when it comes to defence.
It makes sence that if youre investing heavily into EVASION that you will get certain benefits when it comes to effect of, lets say BLIND.

The chages makes you able to specialise into certain types of defence.
Ofc the changes will not suit everyone, BUT, live goes on mate.
If GGG arent changing things once in a while then nothing new will happen.

Ive said it before, you have to adapt to change or die (not litterally die...)

GGG is a game from Gamers to gamers, and ofc its a business to, i never denied that.
THey are doing the exact opposite of what Blizzard has been doing..they are listening to their playerbase, they are creating content..the exact opposite of what Blizzard does...
Stop comparing GGG to Blizzard, when you clearly have no clue about how Blizzard has been handling business..


Second of all, gg has the final say, then decided to make changes..its up to you to decide whether youre going to adapt to the changes, or act like a spoiled brat and quit the game.

Its your job to adapt, it works like that in any game..you need to adapt to change. It works like that with everything in life..harsh but its the truth. :)

Problem:
With the desire to increase Armour, Evasion and Energy Shield power across the board, we felt that the base values on items were too low. In addition, we feel that our item system needs more base type heterogeneity.

Solution:
Base Types are now generated with a random 0-10% higher base defence, as an inbuilt currently-non-modifiable property. This means that all base types can be better than they currently are, and armour base types are not homogeneous any more. Energy Shield values on base types instead vary from 0-20%.

Exalt the Brass Dome to the skies? Hasn't his armour been remarkably strong so far? Doubles, triples of everything and even more - it was good for nothing, just to be heavy, to have a column on our necks, because we would have increased the armour value to the skies in vain, it was impossible not only to have a good but normal defense due to its exponentially decreasing efficiency. also brought out with armour. But do you believe in how to defend unfortunate melee fighters ?! The block won't catch everything, since you've already nerfed it in the blood!
In contrast, are you dropping the Craiceann's Carapace with a much weaker armour value by 150% ?! Are you normal ?!
