I feel like this is a great mechanic for new players to get into crafting, and you are taking it out lmao

Awesome. Thanks GGG.

I am disappointed as I believe sentinels in their current state could have been implemented as is. Maybe a little bit more deterministic to get the sentinel you want so it was more interesting for people who didn't like the mechanic.
Recombinators on the other hand while powerful took quite a few bases, or crafts to get to the end goal. This allowed bases that would otherwise be overlooked to be picked up and used. Additionally, it also deleted items out of the economy. |

Thank god, can we stop making things that make every item OP as fuck? recomb is just a slot machine.
Always playing my own builds. Don't be Meta.

" Exactly as expected. Don't worry, they will add in scourge krangling so it's a 50/50 brick or worse if they ever come back with recombinators. |
|
" The problem is it made trash on the floor useful for once. There were finally great things worth picking up, and saving, to craft... This is what they always beg us to do... we finally do it because they made it nice, and then they remove it entirely. It's not about being OP, it's about being able to make nice things. |

This decision is baffling to put it lightly.
Sure, ditch the sentinels... Recombinators? I sort of viewed them as "loot 2.0" or whatever that means. It gave the seemingly limitless rares on the ground value and opened up a lot of build potential. I crafted nearly my entire setup myself and felt very proud of what I had created. Furthermore, it introduced people to crafting that may have otherwise ignored that side of the game, opting to instead purchase items that somewhat fit their needs. It's just weird, man. Weird. |

I love POE, but I've long since accepted that if a league adds any level of control to crafting they feel the need to burn it to the ground. Look at harvest any craft better then a fossil was removed or made so rare that most players will see it once a league if that. GGG feels that if an item has anything less then 20 layers of RNG to craft then we will feel its worthless. Recombinators could make overpowered items if you sunk time and currency it to them, but is that a bad thing? Action RPGs are about the power fantasy, start from nothing to killing gods, the thing POE lacks right now is a clear path to follow and a way take control of your path. New players are told to follow a build guild and use trade to get items like that is a solution and not a bandage. Maybe "Hard Mode" will give them a place for the more "hardcore/Grindy" ideas or maybe POE 2 will fix some of them, but I feel the biggest obstacle is GGG's idea that giving the player any kind of direct control is a bad thing.

" This. As a filthy casual who need to work and had some RL obligations too, played 175 hours this league, died 92 times, reached level 94, killed 2 void bosses, bought carry for the other 2, got a grand total of 40 recombinators (combined), never used any, never sold any. CBA'ed to switch around my atlas passives 5 times to do half-ish challenges so remained at 8. Sentinels were ok-ish, certainly better than tormented. And i heard about talisman, what is that? Never used any, never sold any, sure i saw aome dropping around but thats about it. The REAL PROBLEM, as described above, was AN mods, and still kinda is. For any average build who doesnt benefit from crazy craftings or 1000+ houtrs grinding, is still a huge problem to kill odd AN moded mob, in delirium, or blight, or incursion, or metamorph, taking 20 minutes+ to kill if possible at all, not to mention being also buffed by sentines. So for me, AN mods = bad, as they still are. Rest is tolerable, with some sparks of good here and there. Used to be the other way around, but hey, real world is going down too, why not virtual also... |
