TOTA is exactly what this game needed, more 1 shots and freezing any time you touch a totem.

It seems like it could go core with a few dozen more passes at bugfixes.
Because tattoos are essentially consumables, I don't expect huge nerfs, and retconning seems like it would never happen since tree changes will eventually knock off even the most broken legacy tats. Non-tattoo rewards of course will get gutted. One way this league could really be a breath of fresh air for Poe1 is if they manage, beyond all hope, to develop this as a controlled experiment PVP encounter. Then the ratings will become meaningful and the prize structure could be a lot more robust in that they could focus on intra-mechanic currency/favour. Instead of Sarn Arena, where previous balance passes for PVP sucked all the oxygen out of the room, the dead halls could have more fundamental caps, tweaks, and balances to put the emphasis back on critical thinking and planning/understanding your hired units, rather than on outspending or cheesing opponents. I hope it goes core, and it feels like it could go core just as it is, with a few balance/bug fixes (like the titanic turtle not being able to protect its own totem, as per flavour text). We already require a currency to access the matches, and the matches and tournaments are quite time-consuming. It doesn't feel broken or OP.
Ofc they could gut it in 99 different ways, but I hope they don't. Because this could genuinely be an end-game alternative to maps, a bit like Delve, and it's something I think would benefit the game as a whole. If they nerf silver coin drops into the ground for example, it's no longer an alternative. Probably more likely they nerf silver coins and make Atlas nodes for TotA, so we need to invest into it to have meaningful access. I just hope it won't get overall nerfed into oblivion, so it just becomes an asterisk and nobody really plays it. As fun as it is right now, it also has to be worth it in terms of currency and tattoos, so it can sort of compete with mapping. Haven't used tattoos yet because I don't have a lot of them, but they too feel pretty balanced. You give up something for a different gain. And we can't give up too many travel nodes, because we require attributes for gear and gem requirements, plus the passive boosts to health, accuracy etc. This isn't like weapon passives where it's just a clear power boost (but horrifically random to get good nodes). The last thing this game needs, is more content that only appeals to a very small segment of the player base.
It's already massively bloated with content and mechanics that people loath and that aren't well conceived or executed. Why GGG feel the need to turn this game from an ARPG into an ARPG - Tower Defence - MOBA - Platformer - Pokemon mimic - Stealth Mission - Chess simulator- CCG is just beyond me. I'd rather they spend some time fixing all the issues that the game has such as stop introducing more gems, go back and adjust all the ones that are sub-par right now. How about some QoL with standard stash, such as allowing me to auto compile Div and Currency tabs. Either bulk delete of excess currency from Remove Only tabs or just altogether allowing us to delete an entire Remove Only tab. I remember where a game expansion was a new campaign, new monsters and equipment and environments that kept things fresh. This continuous need to mash things together that really don't fit is just bizarre and rarely improves the main game. If I wanted to play a good MOBA, I'd go and do so. Why would I come here and choose to play a poorly implemented version? |

trial of the ancestors would be great if the gap between both teams was not so big.
doing trials during campaign is painful to say the least and later on the gap between sides is so big the only option is to cheese the enemy IA while praying you dont get 1 shot. GGG should realy take a look to games like warcraft 3 castle fight * 1 lane where everyone fights *each unit has marked pros and cons and are designed to fullfit a role, player is encouraged to mix them to cover each other weakness something like: * 1 lane where both sides fight * totems will have healthbars and can be attacked but can only be damaged by nearby units, they will also take little damage from non flanker units *add towers that will deal massive amounts of damage to players if there are no ally monsters nearby * roles will grant a specific bonus to the unit: attacker role: large boost to damage defender: large boost to health flanker: they can ignore totems damage reduction support: 50% less health and damage, they will be given auras * ranking will provide a global buff that increase attack, cast and movement speed of enemy units as well as a debuff to the player damage. self found league fan http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/324242/page/1 Last edited by caboom on Sep 3, 2023, 7:05:56 PM

" I agree, there's a lot of content bloat and weird mechanics in this game already. I personally really don't like the gimmick leagues. I log into PoE to play PoE because the core game is good like a solid 8-9/10 when you only look at the builds, atlas, bosses and crafting. They have a good thing going there, they should stick with it. I'd rather see Sythesis added, the whole thing with memories and stuff. It wasn't that bad in retrospective. Funny how back then it was too weird to go core, but now we have Heist, Blighted maps, Sanctum, TOTA... whatever happened there? | |
Hopefully not. The tattoos are a nice idea for customizing builds but the arena requires a lot of work. The one shots are annoying, I dont know why GGG continue to persist with them in the game. There is too much visual clutter. The arena either needs less enemy skills or the particle effects need to be reduced, atleast by half.
