So was this not a NERF over All?
This patch will make PoE1 more than ever like PoE2. All these changes and nerfs over the past few years now is like someone with an addiction to plastic surgery. The game is becoming unrecognizable.

" We also have that! Purities now give more ele res instead of range for example. The better version is new default in most cases.
" Yeah, losing 1% of you DMG indeed makes this game so much like PoE 2.
Looks like a pretty titanic power creep league to me.
Some individual things are going to be nerfed on paper - I had another penance brand ready for my 2nd character for example and on paper its worse but once we can sit down with the numbers and crunch through I suspect almost everything will be buffed. The trans gems are a big part of that, if some gaps are filled in where old functionality was lost then really we are just better than prior. My primary concern is that they have put too much focus on gem quality which only has a few items to directly influence it. That might come out in the wash but I also wouldn't be surprised to find everyone wearing Ashes (or more than prior) Diallia's and Enhance everywhere. Enhance everywhere i'd be OK with as its been niche for so long really but the other two feels super stale. Last edited by Draegnarrr on Dec 3, 2023, 4:33:19 AM

" To me Penance brand change looks like huge buff. Unless you played ingite one and care about avg hit, not DPS.
Its normalised Aynix to around ~ 50% of previous though it gets there far faster.
It won't do huge overlap anymore though and I don't know if a branded target that dies from another explosion goes off or just disappears. I don't think you can make it much quicker either as the cast speed is so short you run into problems with the server tickrate when you try to speed it up. That isn't automatically a problem but it requires a different approach. End result is right now I've got old Pbrand taking ~1 second to detonate vs new one taking .66s but doing half the damage. Now I can cut out a huge amount of cast speed so it might well end up better but Its definitely not cut and dried as an improvement. GGG did a very similar thing with hexblast where they simplified it but it lost some really fun top-end style builds you could do maximising doom. |

" It got simillar treatment to Divine Ire. For top-end minmaxed builds it will be slight nerf but for pretty much everyone else it will be huge "feels good" upgrade beacuse you dont need to put so much resources in cast speed/frequency for the skill to not charge for eternity. You can jump into both builds with any budget and make something that both works and feels good.
" Have you just switched the numbers for PB and called it a day? Because there are some other changes buried in the change that might make you adjust the approach. Most important is that added damage effectiveness, which might make the Spellblade approach and stacking flat added damage very effective. I admit I have not crunched the numbers yet, but I get the feeling you could get the damage much higher this way. |
|
The damage effectiveness is half what it was prior like I mentioned to Aynix I had included that.
Spellblade instead of swiftbrand might end up being the way though for sure I was leaning in that direction but its hard to say. I'm expecting some trans gem shenanigans too if there is a full cold one for example it would enable completely different scaling and maybe there is one with a higher explosion cap. I wasn't really unhappy about the change guys just using it as an example of something that doesn't look great on paper but is probably a buff once I've changed the build enough to fit the new method. |
