Diablo (casual) Player, New in PoE: these are my thoughts :| (my first ever feedback)
To provide example...
I am using very strict endgame filter and this is difference between what i actually see and what is there lying on the ground. ![]() ![]() This is bit extreme example but this is why you need filter. Ofc in earlier stages not so strict as if you are not juicing much bit less stuff is dropping. But without filter it would be still overwhelming. Thanks for the exemplification, Tom. (My god that picture looks ugly with all that on the floor)
It kinda makes sense, although it`s stupid the game does that. It could drop resources instead, and also be auto picked by a pet or smth (like in D3/D4). Although I believe this is an engine limitation of some sort. So I understand that the game throws everything at you and you need to filter the junk part. Does he game itself has a build in filter? I would suspect it does. I remember seeing something, but could not select anything in there. |

Yeah, there is default - not sure if it is activated right away or you need to activate it. Just in-game options -> game -> item filter. You can start with that, just other filters are more optimized for certain kind of builds for example. Not sure if default in game filter highlight things like for example chromatic orb recipe - item with linked green, blue and red socket will give you chromatic orb when sold to vendor. If you just click on follow on other person filter it will appear in your game so you can use it. So you can eaasily try to follow bunch of filters and compare what they are showing to you and pick one which suits you. Just check here on this webpage - tab "Game" -> "Item filters". Actually from the beginning neversink regular or semi-strict should be just fine, AAAAcaster/melee/ranged is I think also meant for early game and there is lots of filters available.
You can set up your own or edit some copied filter here https://www.filterblade.xyz/ - but you probably don't want to do that now. Also, I would suggest to follow some build guide. Some people don't like to do that as they think it will spoil their experience. I believe opposite is the truth in Poe. Game is just so complex that making viable build for mid game already requires lots of knowledge, not even talking about endgame. You are not spoiling anything by following guide as a beginner player. On the contrary, you will save yourself lots of frustration and make your gaming experience much better. Here you can find lots of great options https://maxroll.gg/poe/category/build-guides?filter[build_guide_type][filters][0][taxonomy]=taxonomies.build_guide_type&filter[build_guide_type][filters][0][value]=archive&filter[build_guide_type][filters][0][operation]=!%3D&filter[build_guide_type][filters][1][taxonomy]=taxonomies.build_guide_type&filter[build_guide_type][filters][1][value]=%20&filter[build_guide_type][filters][1][operation]=NOT%20EXISTS&filter[misc][taxonomy]=taxonomies.misc&filter[misc][value]=poe-league-starter . Or there is loads of build guides on YT. |

TLDR: "Mimimi I play on the hardest mode for progamers without knowing what I do and I cry"
Dude level 22 of course you're slow af. It's not diablo where you nobrain until level 99 and then have to use your brain 30 seconds for an uber (or 2 if minions). TwitchTV: http://www.twitch.tv/akumanotsubasa

" xD... C'mon man, not asked for. He is just obvously not certain if he should play Poe. First experience was not great and not his fault that it is not obvious that ruthless is not for beginners. I want as many people to play Poe as possible. So we should try to help them if they need it and ask for it. Am I right? Then call off your statement and give him advice. xD |

" Oh that's nothing. You should see endgame content with no lootfilter at all: ![]() Screen after screen after screen of this nightmarish wall of text... |

" I`m one of them :) I may look at build guides only after I`ve tried some builds myself. I like to stay in the game, not outside of it. |

You quit because u couldn't get past mervail to act 2 push tab or alt it blows the minimap up look for the arange doorway in the map design and for mervail the area she starts the battle in opens up to the exit right behind her start area to act 2 how u didn't realize that blatant doorway open on her death with sound affect and everything I will never know.

" I guess some people just cannot be helped... xD Well... it is your choice ofc, but then you can't expect to make it too far. If you just wanna fiddle around a game a bit and are ok with not reaching later stages of it then why not. And trust me, there is no other scenario then this without playing game thousands of hours to know it well enough so you would be able to build character which can succeed in getting to endgame and conquer it yourself. I believe you should get through acts, but that is just a beginning of Poe. Acts are basically just tutorial of gameplay and more experienced players just wanna get through it asap. I don't think you will do much more then that. Real game starts after it though - similar to for example how normal difficulty in D2 is just necessary prelude to nightmare and hell where the real game starts. Poe is not straightforward game which steers you naturally to making progress. Build guide will basically just tell you things like: these gems works well together... this build is best with that ascendancy... this item will provide unique interaction which makes this build click... look out for items with similar stats... take path in tree in that direction. And so on. You will still have to discover 95% of the game completely on your own, don't worry. Build guide just make it easier to learn about building characters and understand it. And there is lots of stuff you won't figure out on your own even after playing for very long time. Also there are lots of tools for Poe. Some basically mandatory - like Path of building (PoB). Some extremely useful - like craftofexile. Some very useful (but optional) - like poeninja or wealthyexile. I think that basically everyone who plays game half seriously is using them. Just letting you know. Again, I strongly recommend you following guide or at least looking at it to get some basic pointers. But whatever you do good luck on your journey. I would be interested to hear about your game experience and progress after you have played for a while. If you will actually play it. Last edited by BadAssTom#2893 on Jun 29, 2024, 2:12:29 AM
