POE ( 1 ) Legacy items into POE2 ?

We don't even know if they could. Some items from Diablo I appeared in Diablo II, but they weren't exactly carried over from I - and when you found them in II they would have the same name but be different because they were now in a different game.

So I totally expect some items from PoE1 to be - by name - in PoE2. But nothing in your stash will "carry over" because there is no "over" to carry to. There is one game called PoE 1 and another called PoE 2. They share lore and the events in PoE 2 are a result of what we did in PoE 1. But as others already told you, they are completely separate games.

But will there be a HH belt in POE2? Or any of the other now "required" items for top builds?

Will those be slowly introduced in some new form over the unfolding leagues in following years? It took (still takes) POE1 years to create it tops content gear and skills. I do wonder how much POE2 will be starting over as a simpler less content filled game that will take years to reach the levels of complexity that POE1 has.

Jonathan has said that he does want to bring the most iconic items over to PoE2 in some form, so I think you can look forward to seeing a Headhunter belt in the new game -- it just won't be the same as PoE1's version. The same will apply for a lot of PoE1's most iconic items.

As for the less iconic items which are currently "required" by PoE1's meta... no, you won't see those. PoE2 is going to have a very different passive web, with 36 new ascendancies, and hundreds of new skill and support gems, so current-meta PoE1 builds will likely need to be extensively reworked for PoE2, and a lot of them simply won't be possible or desirable.

The other side of that coin is PoE2's meta, which won't come into focus for months at least after the launch, which is a very exciting prospect.

100% this.

I think the most iconic, lore-laden uniques should reappear in PoE 2. Not the strongest. Not the most zoomermeta. The ones that are legendary in Wræclast and would not lose that legendary status over the course of a few decades, which I believe is the duration between the Fall of Oriath and the beginning of PoE 2.

So items that reference Lioneye, Kaom, Hyrri, and so on. And there's absolutely no reason why they can't buff or even just redesign them from one game to the next.

Kaom's Heart used to be the flagship unique of PoE during beta. '1000 life?' was actually a hypothetical question posed on the original PoE site when GGG were talking about their most potent uniques circa 2012.

What lore does Headhunter have? A bit of Lavianga's wisdom I guess. Was he as famous as Kaom when it comes to the Karui? Hells no. That item wouldn't even be C tier lore-wise. It'd be like comparing the breastplate of Agamemnon to a belt Nestor once used as inspiration for a short poem. And I know at least some of you are going, 'who?'...my point exactly.

In short, I'd really like GGG to make the fame of an item in-world commensurate to its actual game power. That'd be awesome.

A new version of Oni Goroshi would be excellent! And after seeing the ground worm boss at the end of Act 1 take such effort to kill, having one early might be important.

No. There is nothing legendary about OG in terms of Wræclast. She is an interloper, a thing outside the world's time and space, incarnated through nothing but ego and determination. A fragment of some other place, adequately represented. Was I not explicit enough with the drawback? Her Embrace is a curse. OG is a cursed item. Wræclast has problems enough without that abomination becoming actually legendary.

Lioneye's Glare. Kaom's Heart. Hyrri's Ire. These are what GGG should renew. And they should also come up with new ones making legends of PoE 1's present-tense narrative. Something for Piety, certainly. And Dominus. Tolman. Poor old Nessa. Tarkleigh.

Let their legacy live on through the artifacts.

Not really the case with Oni Goroshi and some other community created unique items, but I hope that GGG keeps PoE2 free of those items as some of the are unfortunately quite out of control and caused some stupid player power creep. (yes all the steelmage unique items for example)
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Steelmage got an item or two? Huh. Good on him.

Out of curiosity, which uniques did he design? I only know of Impossible Escape.
