Managed to craft a +3 wand with 40% chaos dam and get a +2 amulet, now I'm turbo auto pilot through packs and bosses.

I envy you=)
I've identified hundreds of wands, spent most of my gold on gambling and reforged all the results in 3-1.
Same with staves.
In red maps and still running with ilvl36 +2-all spells wand I dropped during campaign. Have multiple awesome wands and staves for other elements, but no luck for chaos-(
Same with amulet, no luck even for +1.
On the other hand got lucky and dropped jeweller orb for +5 supports in tier 8 map.

For what my penny thoughts are worth, starting this build is miserable. I've only gotten to A3 (and managed to brick during a respec) and found much of the gameplay to that point was slower than other class/builds and bosses were absolutely the most painful experience i've had in awhile. It seemed like there was much more access to +elemental skills and damage early and that may provide an easier path through the early game. I'd be curious to know y'alls thoughts on leveling as ED vs leveling as something like a fire sorc and then cutting over at some point- what skills do you think we should lean on for the best leveling experience, and when do you think the sweet spot might be to cut over?

I agree with this. I'm fully expecting something magnificent or we lynch this so called queen. We've done more theorycrafting here than her.

Anyways, someone else mentioned it here but definitely give Corpsewade a try. its a low lvl unique and really helps in clears. The poison scales with your build. I definitely enjoy it and it nade going through Cruel nice and smooth.

Yeah it was SUPER lucky, I've had dry patches, but when my luck hit...it hit real hard. I believe I bought the wand magic with %chaos and aug'd the +3 - the following regal and slams added nothing but T1 junk haha (I think that was the order). I was super delirious from being up for over 24 hours, so I believe that's where I got this wand - if not crafted it would have been luck from one of my reforges.

Big thing that helped for acts was every time I levelled up I hit the town vendors from the last 2 acts, as they had different inventory. Bought all withered and any fail crafts I had reforged, a lot of close misses with it too; Lots of %chaos and/or %spell, some +1 with no %'s....real mixed bag, but it helped fish. The ammy straight up was a crimson sat in the vendor with +2, the aug/regal/ex added nothing but dead stats.

I opted for just using wands, as I run a shield, the active block is insane value for ED/CONT. We can dot up packs, drop the totem and just block until they die - my survivability went through the roof with this (even dropped my +1 and 30% chaos focus....thank you A1 normal vendor)

It sounds rough running reds with that, but at least it's a +2, just gotta pray for that with some damage, may my luck bless you!. The saving grace for me early on was that spell damage actually helps scale the dot, so grabbing that on the tree and on a wep was at least SOMETHING

Weapon swap, really recommend. You have ED and multiple support spells, use focus for ED and shield for others. Almost no loss in defense and you should get at least +2 focus with no problems.

Weapon swap is automatic in POE2, just bind damaging setup to ED and shield to all other spells.

You still can press shield block when you are on ED setup, it will swap weapons automatically.

Yo long timer Necromancer and ED/Con witch here, been tweaking a skill tree for a chrono ED build and i think i got it mostly squared away altthough i have...questions big one is does anyone know if theres a % cap on life recoup? Because hilariously enouth w/ the acenndency points you can hit 100% recoup but i doubt GGG would have let that happen if they knew about it. So if there is a % cap under 100% I want to take 14 points and buff curse effects instead i.e. duration and effect.

Running ~140% recoup between health and mana (I've linked my tree and theorycrafting above in this post) on 3 sec duration.

It's nuts, literally immortal even in T10 maps.

I have no idea why this never crossed my mind at the time, I was sad about losing my focus at the time.

In saying this, it will require me to have another wand of similar strength in the swap. If I don't then my other abilities lose their +skills, which will be big loss if I have +3 on wand and +2 on a focus.

Certainly food for thought, I haven't gone in to the whole weapon swap and passives part of the game yet. Can possibly pull it off and take event + moms spaget just for the ED snapshot, this would certainly make the life loss of event horizon more palatable

I highly recommend to look at my tree and go for damage from mana / mana recoup.
You will get more EHP and recoup than from pathing to far away life recoup node.

But why do you need powerful wand for other spells? I have other +2 wands, but I opted for manaregen wand in alt setup.
The only loss from +levels is to despair, but I don't think it is worth QOL of infinite mana.
Currently have +2 wand with manaregen, but was running without +levels at all on a shield wand and never regretted it.

Even unarmed/shield for weapon swap will probably result in more DPS than using shield for ED (with minimal effect on survivability if you always follow ED with another cast).

You can look at my guide, I think I have found a couple of neat tricks for ED/contagion. Any advice / proofreading from experienced ED player is welcome, ofc.
