[0.2] Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Let's see how we can survive this.
" Yep. I was scaling aoe since Act 1 when was doing that lvling run for that guide. Roil ring early. Reverberation later. AoE on frost bomb is good. Early gameplay - Ice nova + Unleash to freeze things, bomb, and some shards works better than everything I tried (pure lightning, fire, physical) besides witch with minions (at least on twink). Wall+Bomb worked well until lvl 75, when I switched to Frostbolt/Snakepit. Still, it was fine before switching. Basically, I moved from Freezing Shards right after I got Crest of Ardura and Frost Wall. ~~~~ UPD. Ambrosia support sounds good. I got the general idea of early game now. And things to test later. Thats a big ask. "skills supported by Unleash, have 55% seal gain frequency." or, 25% if we imbue it. Controlling magic Crit nodes were moved. theres a new chaos nodes where it was. but, its just moved over to below, forthcoming. edit:oh, the chaos nodes are also not new, just moved from way over by throatseeker. volatility nodes. oh!. By CI, there are 3 new volatility nodes. 6% chance to gain volatility on kill. and 30 vol max. what is volatility? https://poe2db.tw/us/Volatility Volatility detonates after 4s. dealing100 physical damage to YOU per volatility. for 10 s after detonation, you gain 1% of damage a chaos for each volatiilty which detonated. the det timer will reset on gaining another stack. vol can be gained ever .1s and does not normally have a max. that is self damage will proc recoup. on kill, should could ice crystals. if does, this is great. if doesnt, its just ok. either free chaos damage, or can cover to cold via that support on a single skill. it would be better if it didn't reset its timer. the buff only applying AFTER everything is dead is meh. vol support there as noted, can also be given to any skill that hits, and gains vol charges on crit hit. That's all I see for new stuff. didnt check to see if any existing was changed. The nerf to freeze buildup, probably means that should be prioritized again around the time you get frostwall. " Ambrosia seems like really good support for Comet with Unleash, good flask can have 120 Charges, 20% of that is 24 Charges, which is 72% extra Lightning Damage. Which is equal to new Archmage with 2400 Mana. Swap extra damage to Cold should be good on Frost Wall for more Freeze as Monik mentioned. Mysticism is decent replacement for Grim Dawn since it's gone. |

missed this one. https://poe2db.tw/us/Convalescence 30 spirit. 30s CD. buff. "grands a skill that can be used to instantly begin recharging ES. while buff is active, recharge can not be interrupted. can't be used while ES is full." This is pretty big. the Grim feast replacement. ideally self damage, and then pop this before a fight. although, popping it as soon as you take any damage still is good. Doesn't stop 1 shots, but is still a massive Ehp buff. AND, will enable various self damage skills, which normally prevent ES recharge. chrono buff duration, and CDR would both be great for this. this is more of a "this exists now too" https://poe2db.tw/us/Cast_on_Charm_Use frost nova on stun/freeze,etc, or something might be good. this one also exists.. trigger skills are already tight for supports though. Eye of winter having its damage reduced is pretty lols. And losing crit weakness.
We can also confirm spells did not get their mana costs reduced. So, they ALREADY had mana costs that scaled faster then damage, and damage was reduced across the board on all spells. So its even worse then before. Just from the skills point of view. Then on top of that, mana on gear was reduced. as well as a number of %mana sources. ATM, I really have no idea how we are supposed to play with the mana costs. maybe mana flasks were buffed? db not listing any change there yet. so, I was suggesting with Unleash, timestop line is best. But something to think about. with a 5s cd on frost wall, it will be more spotty. the 33% cdr, AND timesnap refreshing all 3 charges will be more important than before. meanwhile, here I am going over all the chronomancer stuff, and doing zero amazon theory crafting. haha. Companion stuff seems really neat/fun/strong though. I don't see any chrono synergy options. Caltrops, and other hazards are not cooldowns. I dont see any chrono synergy either. I was expecting traps to be great for chrono... Seems grenades got damage buffs, but also 3s to 7s CD nerfs. Flameblast got its insane 15s CD nerf. massive base damage buff.. but, not remotely enough to justify. hammer of the gods lost its CD, for the Hotg chronomancers.. still going to complain on chronomancer not having flavor for channeling or other time manipulation, such as dots. I dont think any of the new spear skills have cooldowns or charges. unleash is only spells of course. A timestop, rift, recoup, aoe slow chrono is an option for a non-caster/non-cd build still. " so yeah, I wasn't even really considering the new unleash instantly grants 2 seals on use, and itself has a 1s cd. now and again, and time snap might be insanely good with this. Anything else? well, frostwall/bomb have CD's so can't be unleashed. frostbolt/eye not great. we want to spam them. unleashed nova is decent normally, and with cull/"free" "15% more" might be pretty solid as well, even if we don't do the unleashed comet. again, being able to instantly reset the seals and constantly cast unleashed novas might be solid. unleashed fireballs to explode walls. absolutely powerful. unleashed sparks. maybe. " Arc was good. I leveled a toon with pure lightning spells, and Arc + Unleash under Mana Tempest was doing all bossing damage I needed. But yeah, that was lightning build with related passives. Overall, was worse than cold, besides the Arc/Tempest damage combo on bosses. Other than that, yes, fireball to explode walls instead of bomb. Or just early, if there is a decent fire wand for it which is better than our cold weapon. Or just Freezing Shards. Why not =) |

lets look at arc for a second.
1.1s base cast time. -arcane tempo 25% more faster cast. This was a quick faster cast passive tree. err.cold not lightning. not perfect.. ![]() crit recently, and 2 noninstant spells cast. unleash and arc itself.. arcane surge on crit. 70% increased, and 46% more. .44s cast time on arc. would give 3.96 CD without any CDR. +10% quality, +12% chrono, +10% imbue, and +50% shield are options. Freezing shards would be .45s cast time, with that tree. 4.05s cd (3.06cd with the 32% non shield options) comet. 1.38s cast time. 12.4s cd. so, it is a raw dps loss. yes. just plain fast cast doing the work. we are adding steps. 9 casts of arc over 4s is more damage then 3 casts. but does free up time to do other things. wall, unleash, arc. wall unleash arc. etc. Or replace arc with fireball/shards,e etc) its only 6 casts with the 3s cd. but it does allow for combos. wall, unleash+shards, coldsnap, wall unleash+shards, coldsnap. or other payoffs. and the "Free" cull and 15% more damage. 3s cooldowns on 1s ish casts would be pretty managable. like frostbomb is now. add in timesnap and now and again, unleash is borderline spammable. Nova even had its damage buffed. 1s base cast time. https://poe2db.tw/us/Ice_Nova .38s cast time in this scenario. 3.42cd before cdr. https://poe2db.tw/us/Frostbolt smaller, but also buffed. .3s cast time. 2.7s cd before cdr. so there might be something there. not just using it for unleashed comets. but instead burst damage on the more basic spamable spells. popping walls with unleased frost bolts, or setting up coldsnap/lighting conduit.
