Hard crashing PC locks up

"
Maybe a temporary fix should be made by disabling multithreading on load?

I've posted this before but I'll repost it here.

Can GGG please add an option in the settings to disable multi-threading while loading as a temporary solution? I think this is at least the best thing they can do while they're trying to get this fixed.

This is the best temporary solution by GGG until they can get this sorted. It will stop the hard freezes for now.

I apologize for that.

It's very rare to see, but highly respected to own up to it. I've definitely done the same. Ultimately, we'll let the professionals handle this and do as they say - sending Dxdiag logs over and crossing our fingers for luck to have it fixed soon.
yeah I just crashed three times in 30 minutes when trying to load into a map...
Just wanted to add my voice here that my pc is also hard locking after going through a loading screen, it always happens during the loading screen, not every loading screen but maybe 1 out of 10 loading screens.

40 hrs played and about 5 hard freezes.

my specs are
amd 5700x cpu
geforce 4060 gpu
msi mobo/msi psu
updated windows and drivers, everything.

I play many other games and never had this issue. Sadly I will have to stop playing until they fix the issue because I don't like hard resetting my pc like this.
Hello,

As said in many topics, the 24h2 from win11 is the issue,
On my side, i downgraded and now it work, no crash again.

fyi, my pc was freezing and forced to restart manually also when i was loading the map on character selection, or on zone swap.

Its a workaround working awaiting for patch from GGG, or new windows update fixing the issue permanently.

same problem here: 5-10 freeze :-(

It is not 24H2. Read the many other topics of people pointing to different OS versions.

Only started happening in the last 1-2 days however this actually coincides with my PC updating to Windows 11 24H2 2 days ago. Before this I had no such crash/freezing asides from disconnecting to login screen on map zoning.

Disabling multithreading before taking portals seems to temporarily prevent crashing but still seeing spikes to 100% CPU utilisation while taking them.

I saw a possible fix somewhere I think reddit and I've had no freeze on load screens/crashes since the change been playing since my last post (fingers crossed it actually sticks, still noticing high cpu usage on portal use though mind you) --

Search bar on Windows and search graphics settings or go to System -> Display -> Graphics, Add PathOfExileSteam (Mine was found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2\PathOfExileSteam.exe)

And then make sure GPU preference is set to your GPU and not the 'Let Windows Decide' option. Which my setting was on for some reason. Possibly due to Windows update. Hope this fixes my problem and possibly anyone elses.

They cant fix it, its the same Bug in poe1 for over 10years. Its the game engine

I have a simple fix that at least won't freeze your PC anymore but only POE2.

Go to the task manager -> right click on POE2 -> go to details -> right click on POE2 again -> set affinity -> deactivate CPU0 and CPU1

This means that the two cores are no longer utilized and you could close POE2 yourself, but POE2 usually closes automatically with an error.

You can use Process Lasso to automate this:
