Hard crashing PC locks up
I was playing on dx11 until this is fixed. But the performance has gotten worse over the patches. So much so that getting even 30-60fps is barely possible. Decided to give Vulkan a shot (which was an instant crash for me in the past) and its been working great (tested for a few hours today and yesterday).
I'm still using BES cpu limiter just incase and its been running 144fps (with low settings) smoothly and for hours. Try Vulkan out if it didn't work for you before, maybe all these crash fixes they've generically stated in patches involved that. Last edited by ndimario#3348 on Dec 18, 2024, 6:57:05 AM

Somewhat doubtful for any work arounds tbh. I went from the 7th until the 13th at 16hrs per day ish say 100 hours with zero crashes. On vulkan. I thought I had fixed the hard freeze issues I was having on the 6th by simply setting cpu to 90% in the power plan settings. Multiple hard crashes since the weekend even through cpu affinity unchecking 2 cores. I think its a matter of time for the crash whatever you try, until GGG does a proper fix.
Tho I will say the fact some random guy (no offence, thanks for trying bro) has a fix on nexus mods and GGG doesnt have an emergency bandaid fix out speaks volumes... |

Well, since reinstalling the whole game after the patch dropped last night, and disabling GPU Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows Settings, I haven't had a single crash.
This morning I did a Molten Vault run, jumping back and forth between town a few times to sell junk and ID items, tried fighting the boss a few times, and I haven't crashed yet. Not using BES or Lasso to do any CPU limiting. All CPU cores active. System temps are cool. Locked in at 60FPS with all the Nvidia settings activated, DX12, Reflex/DLSS/etc.. all on. Playing at 1080p. I'll report back again later. So far, so good. Mostly doing 1 hour gaming sessions right now, and been tabbing in and out of the game to web browser just to see how stable it all is. Seems ok for now... Windows 11 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

Disabling Hyper-V, switching to a Vulkan renderer, and adding the shader folder to Windows Defender exceptions didn't fix the issue completely. It looks like the issue is random and could be a race condition. However, it happens exclusively when the game tries loading the map. At some point, gear animation just stops, and the whole PC becomes frozen.

" Totally this, since the update today is magnitudes worse. Get the freeze every other loading screen, sometimes multiple times in a row. I really hope they fix it before going on holidays. Its already sad enough its taking this long to fix such a Major issue. |
|
" Indeed, it has gotten much worse today. |

Same for me, never had this issue and since today, I have to unplug my PC and Hard reboot each time I change map, almost unplayable today, patch broke the game..

CPU: Ryzen 7700X
Please do something GGG my PC is hard locking all the time |

It is somewhat funny. The game crashes on almost every loading screen (100% cpu) on my laptop on windows 10 (i5 8300h - gtx1060). I had to find a way to access the game to buy promotional tabs, so i installed POE2 on my storage desktop, which is on Ubuntu (amd3400g with integrated graphics) - runs better than on laptop without a single crash... Go figure
