Hard crashing PC locks up

An update from my earlier post (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3594126/page/296#p25742808)

Everything I tried did not fix PoE2 crashing, even the last change of disabling virtualization. I also tried under-volting my 5950x and it was still happening. The only way I was able to play was disabling multithreading in-game but performance was terrible. Unlocking and using hideout helped with performance when multithreading was off.

After all that, I was playing another game with a friend and it started happening in that game too out of the blue which had never happened before PoE2 crashes. I thought maybe something is up with my ram so I removed 2 of my quad channel ram and kept just 2x16gb instead and since then I've been able to play for 2 days without any issues and multithreading enabled again.

I am not sure I have any explanation for all this but that's my case.

My "solution" now is as follow before every time I play the game I go to %AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2 and delete my shade folder before starting the game. If I don't do this the game after a few loading screens crashes. It was even worse after any new patch. But after long gaming season it doesn't happens when I delete the shade folder. I try d12 and Vulkan both it is the same depending on what are you using make sure to delete the folder is name ShaderCacheD3D12 in case of d12 users.

I've been doing exactly this for a week now and whilst the game can eventually hard freeze if I play for several hours... 3 or 4... I have now made considerable progress.

I tried installing the current nvidia hotfix driver 566.45, as someone suggested that might have helped them.

I've just had a crash with that Driver.

Will send @Timothy_GGG an updated dxdiag output as he'd previously asked for output on the 10th December.

I've not noticed any comments from anyone from GGG since then - whilst it is Christmas and I'd not expect any comment to release a patch as they go off on holidays (for the risk it might cause a bigger/wider issue) - it would be really helpful to have a comment whether they still want dxdiag output from users, and whether the thinking is it's an issue they need to resolve or an issue that might require a 3rd party (e.g. Nvidia/Microsoft).

@Vash_GGG#0000 - can you confirm if you still require more dxdiag output and any other diagnostics files that might be helpful from users?

I looked away from my CPU temperature monitor for a second and could have sworn it posted at 451 Fahrenheit. Gratefully it was only at 212F.

I've previously explained why this is a misdirection:
1)The crash happens on all kinds of OS, therefore singling out Windows 11 is not actually providing quality information.

2)Majority of the people have upgraded their PCs to Windows 11 24H2, I would also state that especially those who were waiting for PoE2-in order to have everything up to date-, so from a statistical point of view it is more likely for GGG to detect more Windows 11 users with this problem, because there are more people with Windows 11 out there.

3)Stating "this is mostly a Windows11 24H2 problem" is like stating "dying is mostly a female problem" because 51% of the dead are female.

1)They did copy paste. It is literally the same message on both threads.

2)Players who are under level 25 or have not finished Act 1, cannot send DMs. So they are not getting those dxdiags. This is another important point to look at. If PoE2 is your first GGG game, then you cannot even send them a DM, which is what they wanted, and I quote: "and sending me that file or it's contents in a private message." I am quoting this to make it clear that they did not ask for pastebins.

3)Players who did send help requests to support have been stonewalled. We have screencaps for it. They specifically state "they are not offering technical support at this time". This is both for this issue and other unrelated issues.

They needed to make a post about the seriousness of the issue both on Steam and on here. This has bricked PCs, and keeps bricking them as people try to push through.

Also from a professional standpoint they should have made a detailed apology post and provided estimated time of fix as well as refund and/or compensation due to seriousness of this issue.

Yeah, agreed. Troll and paid spammer posting the same message again and again. If he has so much time to post crap, he would spend that time on kd>'ing the problem instead of copy-pasting.

This is happening EVERY SINGLE play session now. Load screens freeze maybe two out of five times, and I have to reboot my entire computer. Hopefully the team can get things patched up after the holidays.

The freezes is getting worse now for me, for an hour play i'm getting 3 freezes and had to do a hard reset on my pc.

Had to stop playing for few hours, came back start pc and game, it immediately freezes up on the loading screen.

It happen only on loading screen.

Love this game but this is really unplayable.

Hopefully they will come up with a solution fast.

Maybe they'll get around to fix it this year... who knows they might surprise us.
