Hard crashing PC locks up
I've been having this occur since I started on PoE2 a week after release. Thought it was my machine at first as I'd upgraded my CPU specifically for PoE2.
Basic Specs: Ryzen 7 5700X3D 4070 Super 32GB DDR4 Whenever it locks up on loading, I have to hold down the power button on my PC to do a hard shutdown. Really not good at all. Last edited by Converge57#5721 on Jan 17, 2025, 2:57:05 PM

One trick people do, is affinity. you can use "process lasso" to automate this... BUT what you do is go to task manager, and right click poe. Set CPU Affinity. and uncheck 2 cpus next to eachother. 0,1 or maybe 15,16 but either way, what this does is allows 2 cores to not be used by the application, and allows for you to close it most hte time. I've had issues, but i disable some cores, and it has definitely helped - hopefully They fix the issue too. |

Hello darkness my old friend...

So nobody willing to make a photo of PoE 2 threads in System Informer at a time of freeze? So many crashes and people are too lazy to reveal a little bit more info about what's happening inside the PoE? Well... Let's continue to cry.

I'm using 24h2 windows 11, found out there's an update for it, will try to check if it helps playing the game without crash, sadly not that much hopeful but let's see

" It won't help because this is not a Windows 11 issue. I am on Windows 10, like many out here experiencing this hard crash issue. That's why I ask anyone who encounters Path of Exile 2 Hard Crash to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner so that others be aware of the issue and so that we can fight against misinformation such as "the hard crashes are a Windows 11 24H2 issue". I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |

Such an annoying issue, I really wish GGG would just give us a hint as to what is casuing this so we can at least have peace of mind that our hardware is ok.
I keep seeing GGG's white knights here and on reddit blaming our "unstable" PCs but ive played like 50 games since i built mine in 2023 and never had any hard lockups requiring a restart. I can stress test my 7800x3d right now and at 100% usage nothing happens but any random PoE2 load screen it can freeze. Using PoEUncrasher i can play for hours at 4k 60fps with no performance issues whatsoever. Some also say this is an issue in PoE1 but i played the last two leagues on the same pc without issues. The only thing that changed when POE2 released was the upgrade to 24h2 but so many have the issue on older OS's so im conflicted. I cant rollback anymore and I really dont want to reinstall my entire OS just to be in the same situation... Last edited by darknuub#7440 on Jan 17, 2025, 4:03:40 PM

" Login back to the main account and keep checking DXdiags, holydays are over buddy, get back to work. |

For everyone posting "fixes", if GGG thought any of these worked then they'd say "we're aware of the problem. For now follow these steps:" and then tell you to rollback to 23H2 or set CPU affinities or uninstall/reinstall the game or turn off hyperthreading or whatever other ineffective trick you're posting. The fact that they've said NOTHING means they have no idea what they're doing, and apparently don't care to consult anyone on how to fix this.
And all the streamers are complicit. They 100% have to be aware of this but they're not saying anything negative about the game because they still want all their endorsements and views. Pathetic on all fronts of this community right now. |
