Hard crashing PC locks up
" This worked for me, also rolled back my nvidia driver to the previous one before the driver update for the game. |

I've seen people do the rollback 23 H2 and still crash based on comments in different threads. Are we all on Windows 11? If this is going to take a long time to fix then maybe I should just reinstall Windows 10 but I don't want to do that if it's wasted time and effort

I'm stuck in a crash loop on a specific zone, and I'm on 23h2...

" Navigate to the game folder and find the executables, e.g PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe & PathOfExileSteam.exe. Right click and go to Properties, Compatibility, Check the "Launch in compatibility mode" box and select Windows 7. And if you use Steam - right click on PoE2 - properties - General tab - Steam Overlay switch OFF. |

ARRRRGH
Was just about to beat King in the Mist, after his re-up and the game stuttered, then froze for a second, then closed. I had switched to dx11, someone said it stopped crashes, but it still did, though it had not crashed for a long while. What really sucks is the timing. >:| I am on 23h2 also, but the previous crash I got to this one, said something about DX12 so I used the other one. i'm on win 10, i'm getting perma crashes... best game session lasted 20 mins... can't get out act 1 like this, i had to fight the same boss 15 times, not because i was dying, but because game crashes during the fight...
tried using vulkan (no success there) tried disabling multithreading (no success there) tried BES (no success there) tried changing win update from 24h2 to 23h2, or on win 10 going to 23h2 from 22h2 (no success there) tried emptying shader cache (no success there) tried compatibility win 7 (no success there) i really want to play and go on about testing the game and bug reports etc, but if i can't even move my character more than 3 steps, it's gonna be hard to analyse what's wrong... |

Just had another hard PC freeze BSOD and 3 restart loops when trying to run this game.
I also lost my Bluetooth driver - had to do a Force-Shutdown with the power button and Uninstall/Reinstall the BT device and drivers to get it back again. System seems to be running fine again after that mess. Was SERIOUSLY freaking out there for 15 minutes. I'm DONE WITH POE2 FOR NOW. Call me when they fix this crap. Not worth frying my damn PC to run a videogame. Windows 11 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

After several tries, playing with windows 7 compatibility mode improved the situation extremly. Loading screens only bring CPU usage to around 65-70 %. Loading-screens are definitely shorter. And no crashes or freezes. Will update this post in another 1 or 2 hours...

" updated Possible solution for game FREEZES and system reboots: 1) Update latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard. (be very careful with BIOS update watch guides or use help of experienced tech guys) 2) In BIOS settings DISABLE for ASUS-"Multicore enhancement", for MSI "Enhanced Turbo", for GIGABYTE "Tweaker tab, Enhanced Multi-Core Performance". 3) Clear AMD/Nvidia shader cache. (just google it) 4) WINDOWS 11 users rolling back the windows update from 24H2 to 23H2. OR Use Win 7 compatibility mode for .exe ! 5) CLOSE all your browsers and their processes in your system before playing the game. 6) Steam - right click on PoE2 - properties - General tab - Steam Overlay switch OFF. 7) Delete the PoE client cache files in C:\Users\"your windows account name"\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile\ 8) DISABLE dynamic culling in game options. 9) Turn off Nvidia Reflex in game options. |
