Hard crashing PC locks up

I just tried the BES solution with limiting CPU usage by -5%, logged in and on first loading screen PC freezes.

It helped for some players, in your case try the hardest top scenario GL!

I don't speak German.
Somebody has been sneaking into the allotment and putting top-soil on the ground... the plot thickens!
About 3 hours later, so around 4:30h total now, I have still not gotten a single crash or freeze. Had lots of loading screens that went by smoothly.

Again, what I did was enable Windows 7 compatibility mode for the game's executable as well as disabling Steam Overlay. Thinking that this has got to be the issue. But if I freeze or crash again, I will reply.
I just had this happen to me, I was transitioning to a new map, completely hard lock of my PC, completely unresponsive to any input, and had to restart the PC.
I have tried the "run in windows 7 compatibility mode" and it did not work for me. I'm not testing anything else until a fix is introduced, I'm not trying to break my expensive rig to run an Early Access game. At least this issue is now on the "high priority" list on the "known issues" log, hope they fix it soon as the game does seem great, when it works.

so i've tried everything noted earlier... i've gone from straight crashes to frame freeze... good point is my game doesn't simply close now...

bad point is that i still can't play for sh*t.

shaders were all emptied... tried using vulkan instead of dx12, tried running game as admin (just in case some weird crap happens) tried putting everything on low graphics...

i'm getting bored =C

i think i'll come back when the issue is fixed because i love the game and i don't want the early access to absolutely jinx my love for it...
Just to let you know guys, I have moved from steam to standalone version and unfortunately still experience the freeze, so it is not a steam exclusive issue.

Launch in compatibility mode did not help either.

I've seen people do the rollback 23 H2 and still crash based on comments in different threads. Are we all on Windows 11? If this is going to take a long time to fix then maybe I should just reinstall Windows 10 but I don't want to do that if it's wasted time and effort

I did a clean Windows 10 reinstall (back from Windows 11 24H2) and so far I have not got a single PC freeze BUT the game still crashes on loading screens when teleporting from and to town.

I spent last night finding and installing 23h2 and I am still crashing this morning.

I am going to try to roll back my graphic drivers but so far nothing has worked for me.

9800x3d
Win 11 23h2 (after reinstall from 24h2)
update

Possible solution for game FREEZES and system reboots:
1) Update latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard. (be very careful with BIOS update watch guides or use help of experienced tech guys)
2) In BIOS settings DISABLE for ASUS-"Multicore enhancement", for MSI "Enhanced Turbo", for GIGABYTE "Tweaker tab, Enhanced Multi-Core Performance".
3) Clear AMD/Nvidia shader cache. (just google it)
4) WINDOWS 11 users rolling back the windows update from 24H2 to 23H2.
OR Use Win 7 compatibility mode for .exe files in your game folder location!

5) CLOSE all browsers and their processes in task manager before playing the game.
6) Steam - right click on PoE2 - properties - General tab - Steam Overlay switch OFF.
7) Delete the PoE client cache files in C:\Users\"your windows account name"\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile\
8) DISABLE dynamic culling in game options.
9) Turn off Nvidia Reflex in game options.

I am currently about an hour and thirty minutes into the game again. So far, no crashes or freezes.

I disabled the Steam Overlay for the game and added the compatability mode to Windows 7 for the game's .exe file.

How to add windows compatibility mode?

Navigate to the game folder and find the executables, e.g PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe & PathOfExileSteam.exe.

Right click and go to Properties, Compatibility, Check the "Launch in compatibility mode" box and select Windows 7.

So far I have had no issues, but I don't know whether or not this will fully prevent the game from freezing.

Trying this method the game wouldn’t even load for me.
