POSSIBLE FIX

So I found this idea online somewhere and so far it has been working great. Navigate to the Steam folder where POE2 is installed. Should look like:

Drive Letter\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2

Find the PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe file and right click. Go to Properties. Go to Compatability tab. Check box run as Admin and Check box run in compatability mode for Windows 8. Hit Apply and OK.

Haven't had one crash yet since this change. Hopefully it works for you all. Best of luck!

Computer Specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: RTX 4090
RAM: 32.0 GB
NV.2: Samsung 990 PRO 4TB
OS: Windows 11 Pro
OS VERSION: 24H2

doesnt make sense, because when you open the game, the process is PathOfExileSteam.exe, not PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe.

I checked - it worked for about 5 downloads per location, but then it froze again
Yep I can't play PoE2 anymore. Every other game works fine for me but PoE2 just freezes after trying to load past the character select. Not gonna try anymore until this is fixed.
I tried everything posted here instead of unfreezer.

Running affinity makes the crashes more frequent but at least you can exit the game.

I noticed that the game can boost my cores more than any of synthetic benchmark. Software tricks like disabling boost via registry or setting CPU limit to 99% did not work because POE2 can somehow ignore that. Doing small negative PBO like -200 MHz did not work either.

I ended up with disabling SMT and -750 MHz pbo and running the game on 4 physical cores.

7800x3D, base clock is 4.2, boost 5050 according to bios so this put me to small boost like 4.3.

Maybe extreme and stupid but at least I can play. Maybe I will try to increase core count / lower negative boost until I find the breaking point.

Edit: Just after finishing this post I added 2 more cores to 6 instead of 4 and got instant crash.

The constant freezing and crashes i've experienced were tolerable, it would only take 10-15 minutes for me to go hop on and play again.

but after applying all these suggestions it kinda bricked my Laptop i play this on now.

I would drain/remove the battery because of course its a laptop, that's the only way of Dealing with a Freezing Unresponsive Screen.

But after applying all those:

"Do this", "This fixed it for me": has made my Laptop completely unbootable at this point.

I need to bring it to the Asus Service Center and God knows when i can bring factual information about what happened to the device at this point.

same here, i'll not play until they fix!
It's append again, changing location and have to unplug PC to restart, please fix it.
