POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
|
It's just happened to me again, this is I think the 9th such crash that seizes my OS and forces me to hard shutdown.
I'm concerned about playing this game any more until it fixes. No other game I play has seen so much of a stutter, I spent a great deal on my computer so rightfully wouldn't expect to see my CPU completely overloaded. |

" Any possibility for me to send some of the .dmp files to someone on the dev team if that helps in any way? _________ I've been suffering full PC lockups for weeks now, and the only fix seems to literally be to disable multithreading in my game options. In return, I get 5-15FPS in towns, and ~20-40FPS while playing, depending on mob density / mob effects and map details. This still doesn't fix the random crashes, but at least the full PC freezes. It's making me crazy, seriously. I cannot play without having to worry about my whole PC locking up, I don't want to experience the day I get hardware damage on my PC from this game, it's a serious problem. I paid money for it, and in return I get PC lock-ups & you guys nerf classes and fix exploits or whatever in hotfixes. My PC is more than able to run this game, it's not the best, but it's an upper mid-range PC still, I enjoy 160+ FPS on 1440P with multithreading, but I sadly cannot enjoy this at all, as this is the formula for my PC to completely die until I force reboot it. I never had this happen with any other game I've ever played, even shady early access games by a single person never made my PC lock up completely, worst case I get low FPS or the game crashes for no reason. But POE2? It KILLS my whole PC every time. I either freeze my whole PC with this game as soon as I teleport, or my game just randomly decides to lock up while mapping, and then crashes with no error message at all, making me die & losing my map, EXP, and loot. Is this the early access experience I paid for? I know I wasn't forced to purchase or play this game, but in the end I paid money, and apparently it seems to be a very huge problem with PoE2 considering the amount of complaints on this thread. I hope you guys can fix this soon, as I lately don't even feel like playing anymore. I don't enjoy playing a slideshow without having to worry about a full freeze. This should be the top priority problem as of weeks ago, without users trying to work-around by disabling 100% CPU load and whatever else there is Last edited by CptSniffles#5163 on Jan 4, 2025, 12:45:22 PM

" You can do both if you want. But there's little I can do (without tampering the game) apart from analysing it and comparing it with my dump. The devs are the ones that can fix it. Anyway, you can send me a dm with a link to the dump uploaded to gofile.io or your favourite file host provider. |

GGG - Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySOQb3q1aes fix your shit!

" Comical at this point that this isn't fixed yet. They honestly shouldn't have released the game until Jan after their vacation. Just plain stupid to have no one working on the game during the holiday. I work in development and we have team members working during the holiday to address urgent issues. |

Wait, so is this same issue in PoE 1 or no?

" I cannot imagine any company being okay with key workers leaving on vacation when there is an issue as drastic as this. Unfortunately for GGG and to some extent Sixjoy I was not alone in my thinking. At this point all I hope is that whoever that is going to be sacked is not good, hardworking, and passionate people like Jonathan or Mark. Someone on GGG developer team failed miserably, and then hid their incompetence until it was too late. While there was a problem on higher-ups' decision making I cannot fault them for not wanting to delay the game any longer and miss the peak sale period. A sad affair... What a loss of face. Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1. What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. So knock on wood I may have stumbled upon something that works for me. I too was getting frequent hard lockups and having to restart my computer. I got so frustrated with it I started looking at what tasks were running in the background in Task Manager. I happened to notice Meta's OVRserver process was running all the time and taking up about 15MB of RAM. I thought that was weird since I wasn't using my Oculus/Quest VR headset. I killed the task and it immediately reopened. Tried again, same thing. So I then went into windows services (search "Services" in windows task bar) and saw that it was set to run automatically. I changed it to manual startup instead, shut my computer down (not restart), then turned it back on. I've had zero crashes since. Granted it's only been 24 hours, but 24 hours without a crash when I would rarely make it more than 30 minutes previously is incredible. Do other people experiencing crashes also have Oculus/Quest VR headsets and associated software on their computer?

Investigate loading maps that are too large. Fixes the non optimized video card issues and the compounding lag. Smaller maps.

" Nah, never owned a VR headset, but still experiencing full PC lockups. Would be awesome if it worked out in your case though |
