POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

"
Switching to a higher/emptier Global Chat channel # has stopped my crashes.

Finally someone developed the actual fix. Thank you. I also tried to feed my dog but without success. But when I fed both dog and cat, the crashes gone. Feel free to use my method.
....aaaaaaaand right after I posted that, my PC hard crashed again.

:(

My luck ran out. Went 3 days without a crash until just now.

So I'll ask you straight up, Why would you think it happens in Linux and Windows alike? Seeing how there system resources are handled entirely differently and their kernels aren't even remotely similar.

I believe there are a lot of shared pieces of code for both type of drivers to make the development more consistent and platform-independent. For example, I found this article in the docs, it describes the CUDA compiler architecture from the user point of view, including GPU compilation (keep in mind - only kms have direct access to the hardware).

NVIDIA CUDA Compiler Driver NVCC
or this one
CUDA Driver API
Look, the user-side functionality prvided by cuda.dll or cuda.so is identical. Sure from that document we cannot see the internal parts of the kernel modules.

So, I suppose we have more than one contributing factor as the other users already told and we have a lot of shared or very similar pieces of the code for the all types of the drivers, dictated by the architecture and platform independency. Sure, I can be wrong but from my point of view if isolated user mode app locks the entire system not allowing to process hardware interrupts - the problem(s) lie(s) way deeper than in ring 3.

I'd be glad if some users with integrated GPU or Intel Arc shared their experience.

This still wouldn't answer why AMD GPU users are crashing seeing how CUDA is only on Nvidia platforms. Doing a quick google search for it most of the users that are crashing in Linux are using AMD GPUs so thinking this is an Nvidia specific problem is blown out of the water and I'd highly doubt AMD and Nvidia drivers are remotely similar.

I was able to downgrade from 24H2 to 23H2, as I had upgraded to 24H2 about a week ago. No issues so far for several hours (previously I was hard locking every ~30 mins). I've been monitoring CPU utilization since the downgrade, and it's still spiking to 100% across all cores when loading, but again - no locks so far.

Worth mentioning - a user "makedir" in the poeuncrasher issues comments cited KB5041587 (a CPU scheduler optimization) as the culprit. This is part of 24H2, and an optional update with 23H2. Interestingly, after I rolled back, KB5041587 was no where to be found on my machine. Whether I never installed it, or MS has yanked it as an optional update, I'm not sure. My point here is that if you're on 23H2 and still having locks, see if the update is installed. If you'd like to test, you can launch cmd or powershell as and admin, and remove it with wusa /uninstall /kb:5041587
Do I really need to run a 3rd party exe file in order to play this game on a new PC? I assume PoEUncrasher isn't malicious, but the fact remains that this is a bit silly..

If this has been going on since PoE1 -- as others have claimed -- I don't envision a legitimate fix for this anytime soon.

Back to Diablo 4...
I got the same issue with this game, no other game do it.
PC completely freeze up when loading map. Can move mouse, unable to interact with windows and the game. Unable to F4+ alt to close the game, Unable to CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut down windows. Only way to close the game is shut down windows with Holding power button down.
I found it reducing the CPU core the game uses seen to help. I unselect the core in set affinity for POE 2 after the game has started.
Went 3 days without crash. Now they restarted the server and in my first login after the restart I froze again. It is so frustrating.
After many posts, xx freezes and tests now i can playin without freezing.
PoEUncrusher and optimization POE2 by nvidia app help with freezing but...
Now i have only D3d crushin.. Maybe one in whole week.

I have win11 v24 64b
updated GPU, bios

PS. I played about 40h with new character with POEUncrasher and optimization NVIDIA without freezing.

Same here, had no Game/PC Freezes the last few days blasting maps and leveling, and since yesterday evening i have had 5 freezes changing the area in PoE 1 again.

powercfg -h off -- dies deaktiviert den Ruhezustandsmodus
(und entfernt die hyberfil.sys Datei, dies Speichert die Informationen für den Neustart)

danach habe ich den Modus wieder reaktiviert
powercfg -h on

I have/had the same problem. The game freezes after an indefinite amount of time. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later. I noticed that after a cold start of the PC, the freezing doesn't occur. The only difference for me would be the Windows hibernation mode. Even if you don't explicitly choose hibernation, Windows writes something there anyway. This speeds up the boot process of the computer. I have now executed the following command in PowerShell (Admin mode) before starting PoE2:

powercfg -h off - This deactivates the hibernation mode (and removes the hyberfil.sys file, which stores information for the restart)

After that, I reactivated the mode again:

powercfg -h on

Since I did this, I haven't experienced any freezing anymore (for several days now).

What's strange is that it doesn't seem to be the hibernation mode itself that's the problem. It must be something that Windows writes to the hibernation file when shutting down or something that's written when starting up. I haven't been able to figure out what it is yet.

Best regards
