Ok, so, nvivida control panel, not been long enough to tell for crashing thought the pause during loads for a split second i use to always get for years in poe1 and now 2 stopped and the games general framerate improved noticeably when i changed this.

Nvidia Control Panel
Threaded optimizations to OFF instead of AUTO.

if i dont crash in the next 24 hours let ya know

this seems to work for me, after playing for 4-5 hours, there was no freeze or crash.

I crashed at the first loading screen when disabling this. FML
POEUncrasher, Threaded optimizations to OFF instead of AUTO from NVidia Control Panel, disabled multithreading ingame, nothing works. This game is amazing but could not risk my PC anymore. I'll play it again once fixed

A user in this thread or in another mentioned that he copied it to a network drive, I thought I give it a try and I've done several maps now and it seems to not freeze anymore ( so far... )

Yeah, it was me. Glad it helped someone. Thanks for confirming it works, so it's not just my config. I am able to play without crashes for 2 days now. I hope this will fix problem for other people who have any network drive.

If problem is related to drive access, I wonder if there is any local drive config that can be changed, so there is no need to copy files to network.

Wild thought, but maybe this works because you're basically creating a bottleneck in drive access that limits what the CPU can do.

By normally installing the game in a NVME/SSD, the CPU can work at 100%, thus freezing the game.

Just speculation, of course. But it's nice to have more workarounds.

I try to play PoE1 this morning....

Same issue. Cannot enter in a single map.
crash crash crash!!!!! bought a brand new pc for this game :(
I read somewhere here that running POE2 in network share folder fix the crash issue, so i tested by copying the POE2 folder to my home server share folder.
Loading took a while but i am able to play 4 hour without crash.

THen i have an idea how about i create a share folder of the POE2 in the my gamin PC and mount that as network drive.
Lo and behold I am able to play 5 hour straight without crash and dont need to keep disable and enable multithreading in the POE2 setting.

Quick step:
1. share POE2 game folder as POE2
2. mount network location "\\127.0.0.1\POE2" as a network drive
3. launch POE2.exe fron this network drive
Stop trying workarounds / third party software. Don't use your machine as a sacrificial guinee pig. You will ruin hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of equipment to try to play a game.

Write a negative review on steam, request a refund, and DONT even think about trying to play until they've announced a fix and its been tested.

Think about it... you buy $200 UPS machines to OCCASIONALLY prevent what you're doing to your machine multiple times a day while trying to mitigate GGG's negligence.
