POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
For anyone that thinks rollback is the solution:
Rollback does not solve anything by itself. If it was a solution then everyone who have rolled back would have started playing without getting PC-bricking hard crashes. For anyone that thinks "Windows 11 is a common denominator" argument is logical: The game crashes on Windows 10 22H2, Windows 11 24H2, Windows 11 23H2, and Linux. The only reason you see more Windows 11 24H2s is because more people are using that OS. Similarly a common denominator among the PCs that crash is that their users often breathe. Is your breathing the cause behind the hard crashes? This is how you sound to someone who knows statistics when you claim this is a Windows 11 24H2 issue. We can argue all day long. In the end the only ones to know what is happening is GGG. As GGG's paying customers GGG should have been communicating with us, but they are not. In fact instead GGG attempts to muddy the waters by using misleading language, which we saw at the 3 hour long Q&A stream where they acted as if the only crashes were crashes to desktop (and blamed NVIDIA for it); which we saw on the very first week when they blamed Windows 11 24H2 despite the fact that at that time we knew it had nothing to do with these crashes. Dear GGG, Enough is enough. We-as paying customers- have the right to know: 1) What went wrong? 2) What you are doing to fix it? 3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem? 4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds) 5) What is your estimated time of fix? 6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period? 7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue? 8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game? To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product: As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |

" I'm trying this, i'll let you know |

" I remember that we tried this around the 10th day or so... It did not work. You can find the posts about it on here or the other hard crash thread. Honestly speaking a pinned/stickied post about all the non-working workarounds would be really nice but that would be communication and GGG does not like it. " Doesn't work, I just restarted my PC after my 1st login into Win client. |
|
Tried and downloaded the game from their own launcher, first loading screen I get after selecting the character it freezes my pc, like it has been doing for few weeks now when launched from Steam as well...
Game is literally unplayable at the moment. |
|
" Same situation. | |
No update on this, huh? I've not even tried to play for three weeks now according to Steam (Jan 4), and clocked less than 14 hours in total since launch of EA due to the issue -- one of the hard crashes lead to a minor RGB driver corruption, which in itself wasn't a big issue, but just made me rather anxious about more substantial problems potentially arising from these entire OS freezes. It's a real shame, but even the CPU core workaround wasn't viable for me, as it lead to an immediately notable increase in crash frequency, etc.
Of all the dodgy experiences I've had with EA games across the years, I would never have predicted that PoE2 would be the first genuine occasion where one persistent issue would render a game completely unplayable for such a length of time. Will check back next month, I guess. |

" Yea i don't think is really related to people hardware/windows as much, but rather a code compatibility problem specially related to engine multi-threading, because it's been a problem ever since they updated their particle engine code, my best guess is the code related to engine multi-thread and resources management within the threads that leads to application lock because is not freeing the resources during the loading screen or once it's finish and leading to this CPU hostage lock scenario, just a guess but is a good spot to start looking there for a fix. |

I have < 30 minutes of play according to Steam. But all I’ve been able to do is watch the intro movie (which looked terrible), skipped to the choose my character, crawl under stage & then it locks. Now upon the 3 gears loading screen upon launch it locks.
I just had a motherboard replacement. I wiped my PC & loaded completely as new. Fresh everything. All other games run flawlessly. I don’t know what to do other than request refund? |
