PROBLEM WITH PERFORMANCE ON POE 2
Exact same issue, EXTREMELY LOW FPS 15-30fps, 90-100% CPU in towns and misc other areas.
Performance is horrid. I have a bit of a older system, but still works great on major titles, and PoE 1 juiced maps.(90-120 FPS other games) i9 9900K 64GB ram 2070 RTX Super 970 pro m.2 Win 10 VERY low FPS and 80-100% CPU Usage all the time. 15-30 FPS in towns and Act 2 areas with lots of mobs. (haven't been in act 3 just beginning act 2) Game seems EXTREMELY unoptimized to the point of almost unplayable. Please please look into performance issues! I want to play so bad but don't have money do drop 2-3 thousand on a new PC just to be able to play. Other games zero issues! Please look into the performance issues! Try switching to Windowed mode.
I was experiencing the same issue. While standing still in the game, I was getting 100+ FPS, but there was horrible stuttering. I also noticed large spikes in the performance graph roughly every second. The issue was most noticeable when rotating, even if I was just turning in place. Switching the game from Fullscreen or Windowed Fullscreen to Windowed mode drastically improved my performance. The FPS stayed above 100, and the stuttering completely stopped. Hopefully, GGG sees this and implements a fix for Fullscreen, as I don’t enjoy playing in Windowed mode. Unfortunately, Fullscreen is currently unplayable for me due to these performance issues. |

Really hope new configuration options are available eventually, but right now performance is really sus. Playing cold sorc with freeze/comet and campaign/mapping fps tanks massively and cant go over 100 fps in town which seems pretty crazy. Hopefully GGG can address these issues. I can run many other games on ultra with 165 fps, but POE2 is absolutely draining for some reason.
PC Specs: i9-12900k, oc to 5.2GHz 32 GB RAM 4080 Super, oc to 2.5GHz Massive CPU load with multithreading on At this point I would rather wait for an actual performance update than try mapping as I am afraid for my hardware. |

This post on Steam forums by "[OTnL]Grieves Amorl" fixed the performance issues for me, so sharing on POE forum in case it helps others.
"Hey all jumped on today and game was struggling with low fps, i went into windows control panel > display > Graphics and put both path of exile 2 exes on "your graphics card"(high performance) setting. Also went into nvidia control panel and selected poe2exe and put Opengl rendering GPU setting to my graphics card and power management mode to prefer maximum performance. And that fixed stuttering and low fps for me hope this helps." |

Same issues here. Getting about 50fps in game at 3440x1440. Tried every fix imaginable. Updated BIOS, all the Windows fixes, multiple GPU driver versions, etc. Every other game runs fine 100+ fps.
PC Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X3D AMD Radeon RX 6800XT 32GB RAM @ 3600MT/s Asrock X570 Taichi I was able to hit 100+ for about 20 min after DDU and Windows update, but have not been able to reach that since. I've been able to play on my second rig hooked up my TV. It has a 5600x and a 3060ti. I can get over 60fps in 4k (up to 100 with DLSS)... so there's definitely an engine issue or something going on here. Edit: I did try multiple combinations of settings and renderers. DX11 has better framerate, but horrible stutters. I also tried the game in Linux under Proton and yielded similar performance. Edit2: I uploaded a video of the character select screen with default settings and graphs. https://youtu.be/shPnFRUJ7gk Last edited by Puls3#7191 on Dec 12, 2024, 1:07:27 PM

If you guys haven't noticed, they are doing the 'radio silent' dev response to all the 'poorly optimized game' threads. It's painfully obvious they've been told to stand by and ignore it.
Unfortunately, based on how GGG is known to cut corners (fanboys won't admit it), it's likely something that won't be fixed for a very long time. Right now, they are having shareholder meetings and focusing on funneling money to streamers and news outlets to suck up more money on what quite honestly is a very very basic product with poor itemization. If you just sit down for 30 minutes with the entire list of gems.. you'll realize... there's no room for creativity at all. It becomes even more painfully obvious when they nerf 'streamer builds'. They don't want streamers steamrolling the content and hundreds of thousands of people seeing how easy it is and moving on. GGG wants $$$, and they want it NOW! To be fair, Diablo 4 was poorly optimized on release, but it's not even comparable to this. You could still enjoy fights. My CPU/GPU can handle 4k 120FPS on every game I've played, yet in this I can't even run 30 fps? This is like the 4th thread with 80 pages of people saying their PC is WELL OVER the recommended requirements and can't run the game. Cash grab city. They knew they had to release this before Christmas or miss out on hundreds of millions of potential profit. The game sucks. |

" UMMM WTF. I"VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS and it seems to have largely fixed fps for me WTF. Edit: yeah no just for some reason I was getting 90fps+ in the area I was in. Went some where else then came back and it's all garbo again. I plan on upgrading but I can still play ever single other game even cyberpunk with raytracing. I hope they do someeething to fix this. I think it's cpu and not gpu. I even tried the bes limiter which didn't really do anything for me. Last edited by MummifiedInBongwater#2726 on Dec 12, 2024, 11:50:52 AM

"similar problem msi 4070 super amd 7500f on dx12 gpu ms 20-30 +99-100% load with vulcan 20-30 gpu ms AND cpu ms with dx11 have noticeable shaders spikes that lower the frame rate to 10-15 fps. |

All, I might have a solution, this worked for me.
Download GPU-Z and look at Bus Interface. Most cards are PCIe x16 4.0. Look what is says after the 4.0, it should say @x16 3.0 or 4.0. Mine was saying @x2 3.0. No wonder the FPS was capped at 50 because that was all the GPU could render on only 2 lanes instead of 16. What was the issue? An M.2 SSD was using the PCIe lanes of the GPU. I have 2 M.2's, I removed one and voila SOLVED. GPU is now at x16 3.0. Frames now at 144 DX12 in POE2. I hope this solves it for you guys as well. GOOD LUCK!! JC |
