CPU spikes every 2 seconds or so that get worse and reset on relog.
" " While it sounds like the problem reported in this thread has a different cause, POE does have issues with multithreading for some CPUs that can cause continual stuttering. This problem is especially noticeable in POE2, where you may stutter badly just walking around in town. One workaround is to disable the multithreading option. Another is to muck around with your cpu (requires caution). I have an old generation Intel Extreme cpu and there is a problem that occurs with their multithreading strategy and cpu sleep states. With sleep states enabled for the cpu (which normally will and should be), the game will continually stutter when multithreading is enabled as cores drop below 100% usage and enter lower power states. A workaround for this problem with multithreading can be straightforward but something you'd rather not have to do:

PROCEED WITH CAUTION! You can disable sleep for your CPU cores temporarily by configuring a power profile (in Windows) to disable all idle states. It is not enough to set the minimum processor state to 100%, but that would probably also help.
The catch is that your CPU will run hotter by continually running at 100% and you need to monitor that your cooling is able to handle that effectively over time. You don't need to disable sleep states in your BIOS, but can create a power profile that you turn on and off when playing POE -- the settings required need to be applied using the command line using the "powercfg" command. Be sure to know what you are doing and monitor your PC's temperature while forcing it to run without sleep states. You should also avoid putting the computer to sleep with that custom profile active as it may impede your computer's ability to wake up successfully. AGAIN - ONLY DO THIS IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Leaving your computer in this state 24/7 will increase your power bill and could potentially overheat your cpu if your cooling is insufficient. I am deliberately leaving out the specific changes required, but wanted to pass on that it may be possible to solve that other specific performance issue. | |
For anyone still looking for other solutions, It was my SSD.
For some reason these newer games (Marvel rivals/POE2) do not work well off of SSDs. I moved my game back to my main drive and every single issue was gone. No lag, No long loading times, My FPS during fights sit at a solid 140 compared to 20-30 with major CPU spikes especially at the start of new areas/maps. My PC is solid so i was confused on why it was running so badly. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 RAM 16 GB |
