Trials of ascendency are now worse POE2
Seems like I'm alone. I liked the Labs in PoE for some reason. Stressful, sometimes punishing, especially Izaro, long-ish... but I used to do them with my brother just for fun. Was there some kind of daily or weekly lab thing?
Anyway. The trials in PoE2, however, are too hard and while I had fun cruising through the first one and dodge rolling my way through, I died to a 5 minutes boss fight when the boss had roughly no life left. I leveled a bit, and suceeded. Same thing with the second one, but well, I managed eventually. The 3rd one is so overtuned and random, and whenever I managed to get far in Chaos, the game crashes and I lost all progress. The other times, the modifiers were so bad bosses would one shot me whenever they looked at me wrong. Some builds will have an easier time, that much is sure, and some players are lucky with no crash or D/C when they're done with the Trial, but most people will not like these... and they're certainly not going to do Trials runs for fun. Aa a lab "lover", I don't like these trials at all. A very hard trial for the 4th ascendancy? Yeah, I get it, but the "main story" ones should be a little bit more in line with what is expected at that level. Last edited by pyrocyborg#0256 on Dec 15, 2024, 11:35:09 PM

" i know but GGG will change nothing so either you get a carry or frustrate yourself with trials. i play games for fun not to frustrate myself |

i wish i could refund the early access just because of the trials. its impossible for me, makes no fun, but keeps me locked out of a big part of the game.
Really bad mechanic that needs to be removed. |

After the update that makes the honour loss proximity based, i have to say i was happy.
Then i joined the trial of Sekhemas with my boneshatter Titan. I got 59% honour resist and some max honour %. Impossible really. Remove it or REWORK it. I caanot achieve the build without 3rd ascendancy and now i have to reroll on ranged OR just not play. GGG do something MORE. Its not enough. |

trials are so unfun they made me go back to D4

I kinda like those Trials, or atleast the idea behind it but they miss alot of finetuning. I play Honkai Star Rail where u also have something similar. U Enter a room and do either battle or choose some reward and than choose the next stage to go further but u mostly get more and more rewards to make the run more and more easy cause the further u go the more stats the mobs get.
Now well how to change this stuff? First u beat 1 Boss ur progress is kinda safed so u dont have to start from the start on ur next attampt. So if u beat the first 2 u start on the Floor to the 3ed boss directly saving time. U Could make it so that u can choose some positiv/negativ bonis depending on the floor where u start at the beginning of ur next trial. Or u could craft maps so u directly start at the floor u need to do the trial like the maps for atlas. That u have to do everything again and again takes to long. I personally only got 2 65+ maps so i could only try it 2 times yet and didnt saw the 3ed boss so far... The Chaos stuff could be the same but instead of choosing only negativs it would be more fair to choose 1 positiv and 1 negativ boni or after u defeat a boss u can get rid of some negativ boni/s depending on maybe ur performance, here something like honor would work as reward to remove the negativs. i never played it beyond floor 4 from the beginner cause i never dropped a map and im lvl 76. |

It is not impossible at all. I struggled a bit until I stopped underestimating dodge roll, and bought a better 2h for warrior. Not even close to meta. Doing my own thing. I am by no means "great" at this game.
I read a little about the fight on floor 1 boss, realized I needed MOAR DPS, hence mace. rearranged skill gems for single target. ez peasy. Chaos trials sure careful with mods, I reset until I got tolerable ones. Bird boss, stick and roll, nuke the baby it spits out, ez then. The Chimera chaos boss can get fekked though. Hehe. Didn't understand how effective dodge roll was yet, and the machine gun poison pew pew tail wrecked my beefy boi. Slow, yes, undoable, no. Very different and moar difficult than 1st 2 labs in PoE 1? Yes. Those were always foregone conclusions, even the 4th lab. I felt a massive sense of accomplishment. From what I have been reading, once you can animation cancel, gap close (shield charge or leap slam), know mob attack patterns, signals, it is easier for melee. Only 2 things really annoy me so far: No Axes, dodge roll is not very immersive for "hulk smash" Titan wearing Plate armor. For Early Access Beta/partially finished, I think it is 10/10. |

I just bought diablo 4 because of this

Insert Three Fates to unlock the doors to the Trialmaster!
but I only got 1 fate. Gazing at the door, I fell deeply into meditation. To be, or not to be, POE1 or D4. Life is so hard. |

PoE2 is really meant to appeal to a broader audience, more casual players. Yet doing Ascendancy in PoE2 is multiple times harder then PoE1. It's actually insane.
I've done 3 floors in Sekhema, I had some really good relics, I got a massive amount of boons, I got mostly irrelevant curses, and I was playing a minion build. I still only just barely completed it with maybe 1 hit worth of honor left. It was stressful and not fun at all. I've only done the 1st Ascendancy points for Ultimatum. It sucked. Some of the maps were insanely hard to do, some of the mods can brick your build. I can't imagine doing a 10 room run on it, it'd be some kind of bullet hell that anything would one shot you. This begs the question, why is GGG making it so insanely hard to do a few different things? Ascendancy is insanely difficult compared to other content, the monolith related stuff at end game is also so insanely hard that I'd be surprised if anyone short of a 1 shot everything build streamer with perfect reflexes can complete it. Hell even breach/ritual is extremely dangerous, stuff can mob you so fast you get trapped and just die, but you have no where to escape to. They've made a lot of content harder then PoE1 equivalent. It's stupid. What is GGG thinking??? |
