I mean Carn thinks that 2 handed maces are mandatory in the portion of the game before you have access to giant's blood, so yeah I'd say he has some things to learn. Seems like many POE1 players have blinders on and can only see the damage numbers instead of considering how the character actually feels to play. All the complaints I've seen about melee are that it's too slow and clunky, and they're coming from people who've intentionally built their characters to be slow and clunky. The ascendancy doesn't really make a difference, the warrior has access to basically all the same attack speed nodes.

I would read through this thread and see all the feedback from OTHER people (not me) and validate yourself whether or not PoE1 players have blinders on.
Likewise, I would also recommend you actually roll a two-handed mace warrior and play through the game into tier 15 maps and see if your opinion changes.
I think you are being incredibly narrow minded and dismissive of a fairly popular and consistent set of feedback based on an experience you had which is not even the same class or build.

I have +12% attack speed from node+18% from dual wielding +10% on my weapon and 10% on my gloves and most warrior attacks are still too slow.
Most ennemies will hit me before i finish a normal melee attack even if i start it before them.
Sunder is too slow to be used at range without beeing hit back.
Perfect strike and Mega slam are too slow to be used on anything that isnt heavy stunned.
Armour break is too slow in breaking armor AS A DEDICATED SKILLL... other skill with armour break support gem will break armor better... its stupid...
Earth shatter and Volcanic fisure and Molten blast are too slow to be used vs most ennemies without being hit first.
Stampede Shield charge and Leap still let you get hit when jumping/blocking thus get you killed.
Rolling slam is too slow to use vs anything.
Problem is that ennemies in T15 + map hit so hard even when at 78%+ resist to all and 26k armor 2300hp that you cannot tank hits so 90% of my battles are or i melt ennemies and finish the map, or i suddetly get melted in les than a second.
On the other side my Monk witch or ranger with shitty gear dab on the same content throught sheer mobility and better animations, i hit for like a quarter fo the dps but i dont have to predict the futur just in hope to not get hit by a mage ennemy pellet.

Armour break is yet another example of suffering from a horrible base attack time modifier for sure

Isn't armor break based on the damage of the initial blow? I'm shattering plenty of rares with Rolling within two slams as a 2hander, even plenty of bosses take fewer hits than it takes to heavy stun them (which Boneshatter also exploits to fully break anyway). The few with big stun thresholds get sundered and god hammered before empowering usually Hammer for aftershock once stunned (then Superslammed usually).

Curious how you only have 2300 hp with giants blood. my warrior in sc has 4300 hp and hes still unable to use weapons without the attribute requirements mod. my 74 hcssf warrior has 2700 hp. I reckon i don't have near as much armour as you so maybe you have more armour prefixes than life.

I was excited for the fantasy of a slower, tankier class/weapon/skills that really leaned into a lot of the combo/multi-skill design in PoE2.
I sorta got that in the campaign.
I'm not getting that at endgame. I'm sorta tanky at my level/map, and I'm sure as hell slow, but nobody told the endgame this is PoE2 so instead it feels like playing PoE1 but with permanent chill/temp chains on.
Really, outside of the campaign, and even then only when you have decent gear, warrior feels like garbage to play through and through.
The fact that it's optimal to dodge cancel out of the end of every Boneshatter animation alone to save the like .25s of dead animation time is like...how did people even play this class for any amount of time without realizing how bad that feels to either have to dodge out of every engagement or just sit there watching a slow, unnecessary animation.

I found myself dodge roll cancelling out of like every ability lol. It just made it felt a tad better.
