RIP.
Live stream on maces was literally just non-answers of "yeaa we don't know y'know".
It's obviously not a priority after that.
Real shame.

I mean they acknowledged the reality that warrior DOES feel decent in campaign, its that middle ground of early maps-->late game maps that feels awful.
Likewise, they did admit on stream warrior is at the bottom of the totem pole on all axis right now. Hopefully that means good changes coming in the balance/league reset patch.
Having played this game for over a decade and seeing these devs before, I am optimistic they will get it right.

I hate to be a downer, but I've also played for over a decade and am not as optimistic about melee getting its time to shine. Whenever melee or fake melee does end up being a top tier pick (MS, Cyclone, etc.), it usually gets nerfed a league later. Granted, 2h MS builds are indeed a thing again in PoE1. But it's still an outlier compared to the ranged builds that dominate every league.
That said, I think a lot of the outcry over Jonathan's Warrior comments have to do with his delivery. He's very frank and honest, but he often comes off as tondeaf when he says things like "I dunno, I've been playing Warrior in campaign and it feels fine." He did make an effort to acknowledge how melee feels bad at the moment, at least.
My take? GGG's PR game is hurting without Bex at the helm. I haven't seen anyone here talk about how she did wonders for GGG's community relations, which is a shame.

As much as Armour needs a buff, the one thing I feel Warrior truly lacks is tools. On paper AND in practice, slow yet heavy hits feel VERY good. The problem is that mob damage and skill speed is simply too fast and hard hitting to allow slow and heavy hitting mace play to be as viable as it should be. Let's hope they've been reading this thread and seeing our ideas. I believe a significant amount of mace issues would be resolved if we had two or so each of persistent buffs, heralds, and support gems (some that work for any appropriate skill and not just maces/melee) that worked with slow skill speed and channeled skills to allow us to tank incoming damage relatively safely while getting them off. The problem is NOT the speed (though animation lock and post attack recovery definitely needs improving) as much as our lack of tools to allow slow speed to being barraged by attacks. It's really dumb that 9 times out of 10 as soon as any of my attacks go off I immediately dodge roll, not only because of long animation lock but due to being made of tissue paper no matter how many high armor and life mods I can stack.

This is a good observation. I'm sure we'll get more melee-friendly tools (anti-stun auras, more defensive layers, etc.) once Guardian, Druid, and Duelist are added. Even then, I think those additions need to be implemented alongside changes to enemy scaling in endgame maps.

I do miss Bex :{
And yeah, it did take them an actual decade to address melee in PoE1, so maybe I should remain cautiously optimistic, lol

As someone that just crossed 100 hours since early access release (probably spent a good amount afk as well), I only had time to get to t3 maps on my sole character. I wanted get to end game and hoped they would push out some buffs on their first significant patch - needless to say I'm pretty disappointed. I don't really have it in me to re-roll another character, and I don't really enjoy the slog of feeling like my character is in a pool of molasses whenever I go to use an ability. I was actually okay with going to Cloak of Flame and embraced that switch up pretty well, but I guess I was foolish in thinking they would at least increase our skill speeds by like 20-30% (even if it came with some damage nerfs).

Currently melee character (str based ) only have raised shield as a only form of combat interaction. Is it possible to deflect attacks and spells back to the attackers if timed correctly ? maybe even parry with quarter staffs something along that line. Giving melee toons more options in combat.

Well let's see what is in the patch notes. I know it won't be a big rebalance but maybe theyll give a bit of love to warrior after today's interview, haha
