0.1.0d Patch Notes

May was well throw my feedback onto this pile.

Changes to trigger gems were needed. They were warping the build space for casters and even some others in a major way. In addition Comet was clearly balanced for dangerous self-cast and was overperforming when triggered.

However, the changes in this patch appear ill-considered. It's possible the idea to normalize throughput between trash and bosses is decent. However the energy values you landed on are so low that this concept is impossible to evaluate, as the gems are basically dead now.

Please make some further changes to make the gems usable again and proc more on non-uniques/bosses. Please do not get married to a simple multiplier by monster power, unless you're going to overhaul those values as well.

And lastly, please consider a more thorough review of big changes like this. It would not take much internal testing or theorycrafting to see the values as deployed would brick the gems, and that the changes needed another round or two of design before going live to players. There was no rush to make these changes, and many other builds which are just as powerful remain untouched so clearly this is not some gamewide emergency regarding player power.

EDIT: and if the values in this change make more sense in light of other huge overhauls to come...why not wait and package them together?

Great changes overall, including the direction of Cast on X. However, I would hope for better respec opportunities when doing so impactful changes.
Reading the Patch notes and seeing Videos of my cast on freeze comet build got nerfed into oblivion, I guess I am not logging in today :-(

If you make major changes on Skills active or passive pls offer some Kind of discount Or possibilty to cheaply Respecc passives. Respeccing is way too expensive anyway.

GGG really messed this patch up.
Game is really good but needing to replay campaing in such a short time notice because your build is bricked and have no gold to respec really makes you want to quit.

Out of every single post I have read here or on Discord, this is by far the best and most thought out response someone could have given. This style of feedback in it's entirety needs to be the standard.

I get that they needed to fix the trigger gems, just how they did it and the thought process behind it without full transparency doesn't sit well nor does it seem rational at this stage.
After testing it besides breaking the build with the energy gain changes, either I'm reading the skill wrong or elemental invocation is bugged, because it says it has a max 500 energy accumulation and the energy cost of each socketed spell is 10 energy per 0.1 base cast time. I'm using a comet setup and the base cast is 1.0 sec, but if taking into account the text that adds +1 to cast time it would be 2, but that doesn't really matter because while I should be able to cast either 5 or 2,5 comets with elemental Invocation. I can now only cast 1 and this doesn't also take into account that I have specked into cast speed as well. Before the change I had 3 casts now only 1, this is unplayable. I have a monk friend that zooms through bosses with only crit no triggers, a necromancer friend that has damage soaker in the form of minions and still surpasses my dps. Meanwhile I've been reading and searching interaction to make a setup that uses flame wall with drain ailments paired with cast on ignite firestorm to consume those ignites and as much freeze buildup as I can to sustain my elemental invocation/comet setup energy cost and pair with cold snap work. And now even though I was still struggling with bosses and having to deal with only being able to have the bulk of my damage every so often with the elemental invocation/comets with frostbite on them while watching my friends zoom through them no problem.... It just doesn't feel fair, the balance is tilted that's for sure but not as much as this. Please fix that bug with Elemental Invocation so I can at least try and salvage the broken pieces of my build.

Did this patch improve fun for anyone?
Former Diablo Player. Even Blizzard let us have a month or two of the new Spiritborn class being godly. I'm just glad i didn't waste as much time as other players getting to the Comet build.

I do recall in one of your videos that you said you wouldn't nerf overpowered build till seasons reset. One week into this Season (be it a 6 month long one) and you already went back on your word. This is very disconcerting. The content creators who raved about PoE1 and your studio helped me pull the trigger on the Liberator pack. Now i'm rethinking my decision. So if the plan to nerf every overpowered build that comes down the pipeline? If so then Rod Ferguson was right, this game will be Diablo-Like.

Was thinking, GGG games was going to be this studio that let players have fun and go sandbox crazy with a game. Seems like 95% of people hate this patch and nerf... so why piss your supporters off like this, and so early into EA?
game now is all the time crashing, trying to go to map and crash when click on portal - waystone is lost, log out to menu...

what is wrong ?
client crash/freeze up is NOT fixed!!!!! Also, with huge nerfs, specially in early access, pls also give us a free respec option. Great game, huge potential but also HUGE gamebreaking lack of service towards paying and loyal customers.
It would be nice to see somewhat more transparency in patchnotes ( what kind of service crashes are fixed?) and also a clear note on what problems you guys are working to fix in the near future. Believe me, it will help so reasure ppl to at least let them know you are listening to their issues, instead of keeping us in the dark.
Thank you
