Nerf archmage
it s pretty classic of ggg. just in poe 1 it s less obvious.
here it s pretty straight forward. you see archmage, you think that could be a lot of damage and it is. only missing part is the conversion gloves or you can switch to lightning skills. on the good side, it forces you to explore a different way of scaling damage. how do you get ton of mana and regens ? what seems to bother you is the imbalance in damage between scaling factors but on that front, ggg tend to always to leave a couple broken shit here and there in the game. " I'm not investing 200 divines in my build just so people like you can scream to nerf my build LMAO If I'm paying, I want multi-screen-clearing death machine. Who in TF would pay 200 divines to slowpoke clear at the pace of act 1 normal people in rags Best one I heard all day lmao IGN: SCHVAITZERIZER

Look the truth is builds that become demigods who explode screens, are tanky af and melt bosses will always exist in this game. The actual well-rounded ones with good defense and offense will cost a fortune to make, and require very specific endgame items. And that's fine. Because as someone else already said, why would I make a 2-mirror build that has the clearspeed and dps of Heavy Strike? This is what PoE is all about, breaking the limits of your character as much as you can.
There will also be builds with very bursty, high damage but flimsy defenses so they're a bit cheaper. Archmage is its own archetype of mana-stacking that's really cool and was made years ago in PoE 1. Clearly they wanted people to play this in PoE 2 otherwise it wouldn't be in the game. This is most likely the reason MoM got buffed to 100% of damage taken to mana, and why Eldritch Battery got changed to synergize with it since it now just converts all your ES to Mana. Then you click the 3rd keystone CI and you've built an interesting character. This all seems extremely by design. And you have to remember Archmage builds want 2 good prefixes on rings and amulet(%es and flat mana, maybe + skill gem levels suffix on amulet aswell) and 3 perfect prefixes and good suffixes on all armor(% es,flat es,flat mana). That gear ain't cheap or easy to find/make. Even if they are CI they still need to cap res while having insanely god-tier prefixes on all their armor pieces. The amount of currency it takes to build this kind of character is pretty high. And that's fair, people that invest all their wealth into their character should be rewarded with more power. Otherwise why even play the game? |

" Oh okay, so just ignore that PoE2 is supposed to be played at a different speed than PoE1 and try to recreate PoE1 in PoE2. Good thing they made a whole new game just to have geniuses like you advocate for the same game being given a cosmetic facelift. Best one I've heard all day. Baby raging because you can't buy your way to broken, right click only, multi-screen clearing build that definitely doesn't require 200 divs to do what you're saying. You're just pissed because it won't allow you stack MF out the ass while ignoring defensives. You're an absolute PoE1 noob. You should probably stay in PoE1 so this game doesn't get ruined by garbage-tier takes like "I want to be a mutli-screen-clearing death machine". If what you want is a multi-screen-clearing death machine, Diablo 4 is right over there ---> Last edited by BeekersBoy#7515 on Dec 24, 2024, 7:44:16 PM

" A streamer is already playing a Deadeye Lightning Arrow build with 2k life, high evasion with Acro and 400% rarity stacked. These builds already exist, and people will continue making them and playing them. If you want to blame anyone, it's GGG for allowing this game to be PoE 1 again. People will gravitate towards the best builds, because that's just what gamers do. Don't know what else to tell you, we were all sold a lie with all that "souls-like meaningful slow gameplay" in all the interviews and showcase videos, because in those videos they had characters in garbage gear with low-level skill gems that had 0 support gems just to show off the boss mechanics lol |

" ...That's literally the whole point of the thread is to be blame GGG and get them balance things like archmage and builds that allow for MF stacking which can circumvent defenses entirely. The game is early access btw, that's why we're trying to give feedback and suggestions. You know...in the "Early Access Feedback" portion of the forum? People are treating this game like a full-release 1.0 lmao -- the game came out just over 2 weeks ago in EA. There's plenty of time for them to balance and make changes so as to bring PoE2 more in-line with the stated vision. However, what the majority of the people in this thread want is PoE1, and that's not supposed to be what this is. Last edited by BeekersBoy#7515 on Dec 24, 2024, 7:52:59 PM

Why complain about archmage, when Life has no inc on tree, while you can easily get 250% inc es with like 10 skillpoints - on top of ES gear offering more ES than other gear does with life.
Archmage is in a fine spot, I think the main issues are that in each type of skills - Bows/Spells/Maces is 1-2skills which clearly outperform others. And that ES currently just is insane on defensive value - INCLUDING OVERSTACKING FOR 30 SPIRIT Farming salt on the forums since 2024

" The noob here is you. If you have actually played poe2 in endgame, you would have seen it IS poe 1. It has nothing to do with builds, but with the endgame design. Sure, go with your slow dark souls tactical slow clearing build in a 10 breach 50% monster pack size map, see how that works out for ya. The endgame maps are made especially for poe1 builds, and you're asking for nerfing the builds? L M A O IGN: SCHVAITZERIZER

Lol @ all of the Archmage Andy's afraid their build is gonna get nerfed. There's a reason why almost half of the top 1000 is represented by ONE ASCENDANCY.
Sure, you can argue that archmage itself isn't OP, and that it's the build archetype as a whole. But come on; investing in basically ONE stat (mana) and 100 spirit reservation to essentially get an easy 300% more damage multiplier is kind of ridiculous. And on top of that, if you're not running blood magic, most people I know have to invest in some mana anyways because base mana costs are crazy in this game. On top of that, you get a keystone (MoM) that essentially turns your mana into HP, except you can regen like 1000 per second, which is unheard of for health regen in poe2. So yeah, 1 stat arguably covers 3 core issues: DPS, resource, and tankiness Last edited by luck_my_fife#6854 on Dec 25, 2024, 9:01:18 AM

Crazy idea.
Instead of screaming to nerf one of the few builds that works after build defining investment and require the entire passive tree built around it, try to promote GGG to fix other builds to actually have a decent endgame power level? I'm not even playing it, and I can't really see this is as some massive problem. The Ghostwrithe unique working with life calculated before chaos inoculation needs fixing. Archmage is fine tho. |
