Integrate trading in-game

While I don't [per-se] have a problem with trade I'd like to have the ability to automate the "selling" part of the trade equation LEGALLY [RE: ToS].

Specifically I'd like to see an A1 "merchant + hideout" quest. You basically go on a quest in A1 and at quest completion you unlock a basic hideout AND a merchant.

At this point you are allowed to "trade" items with other players. When a player wants to buy one of your items they will buy it from your merchant in your hideout.

When you want to buy an item you'll whisper the other player's merchant, the merchant will invite you to party, you go to the other player's hideout and as soon as you're in the hideout the merchant offers a trade with you.

The idea is that we want to incentivize people selling via the merchant-bot.

We could, theoretically, allow person-to-person trading but I believe we should also allow for filtering of "human traders" on the trade site.

********************

Benefits:

1. A player will [almost] never run into a situation where they whisper someone and get no response. Note: The merchant-bot can operate even when the player is offline.

2. A buyer or seller will never get scammed as the "merchant bot" will only trade for the exact sell-for price --- never higher or lower.

3. This will incentivize more people into the market so the economy, while likely never perfect, will have a better chance to stabilize as there are fewer things preventing entry into the economy.

Downsides: There's really only one big one. I understand GGG WANTS there to be friction when trading for items, wants active player involvement on both sides, etc. I think (?) GGG sees issues like time, satisfaction with trading, scamming, etc. as collateral damage vs. the greater good of in person trading.

I don't get it but it is what it is.

You have some good points there.

Except hideouts aren't accessible when a player is offline and even then that's extra clicks that aren't really necessary when the players should be able to just access the items where they are, plus then you have a race between players to get to a terminal and click "buy" first which is pointless and relies on ping/latency and geographic location more than anything else.

I think just having the interface would be better. After all, even if they did integrate that (which isn't a bad idea), there would still be players doing the old bait and crash, blocking the waypoint, trolling, etc.

The game needs a system like the currency exchange to sell items.
The Currency Exchange is player driven in terms of pricing.
All prices "float" dynamically and settle on whatever is the spot price.
Items could work in much the same way.

The only difference between such a system and what we have now, is that Sellers would need to list their items at a high price and then gradually reduce pricing to "discover" what the market is willing to bear.

Soon everyone using this system will be very good at pricing things so people concerned about dumping need not worry.

Yet that's what we're discussing.

So, are you trolling or did you just have an epiphany that you were wrong?

I don't have idea what are you on about.

What you're proposing is like a quick band aid for problems that will resolve themselves, but it will make things worse in the long run, especially for new players.

No, guy.. the "quick bandaid" was adding a third-party website to try to make trading happen in a game that didn't include it originally.

That was literally the "fix" for something that wasn't included in POE 1.

Now they brought that broken process over to POE 2... a process that isn't even explained to new players on how to list items or how to jump through all the proper hoops to even START selling items.

A game that hilariously requires third-party APPs to tell players how much things are worth because there is no in-game interface to the AH.

I can go on and on and on and on.

thats not true. trading was there from the beginning. you didnt had premium tabs, in the early days. you did not even had the thread in forum to list your stuff. you simply met with other people in the campain map and throw your stuff on the ground for people to look at. thats was trading and it was terrible but had its charme. now trading is fine and its not the problem. people suck, they list things and dont react. they list things and up the price 12 times cause they are greedy.

"Trading was there from the beginning"
"You didnt had premium tabs"

I think you're conflating "trading" with the trading SYSTEM we're referencing that is currently still the barely functioning bandaid they created in POE 1.

the currency exchange is convenience in every way, but at a price. its highly manipulated and most times you are paying a way higher price than on the trade site for the same thing.
i understand its nice to have for currency and that stuff, but dont tell anybody its the perfect solution for anything. its clearly not at all.

Said the guy going up and down the forums calling people "tourists" when he just created his account 2 years ago?

I'll take that with a big, fat grain of salt.

Thanks.

I did it one time in my 1000 posts so you are just lying.
Even this one time I wasn't saying this in bad way.
