Yea look guys, this ain't the attitude to be having. It reeks of entitlement. The game has been in development for over 5 years now. And while it does need more work, that does NOT mean we get to bully the devs into canceling their vacations and time with family. They are working people who deserve a break.

Ultimately they were the ones who decided to delay and go for this launch date, they could have all taken their vacation before or after "crunch time" of the initial few launch weeks.

People in retail also have to work in this time, do they not deserve a break or to spend time with their families?

What about all the people that took time off for the initial launch that got delayed ? Is it entitled for them to be upset about this situation ?

This isn't a good argument. They launched the game like this so there was a long period of time they could gather in-depth feedback on it.

People in retail don't get their time off because in this *capitalist hellscape* we live in, a bunch of entitled people bitched that their favorite stores weren't open on the holidays so they could shop. And the corporations certainly weren't going to say no to more money. This thread is trying to accomplish the same thing for game devs.

If you took time off for an EA launch of a game, that is entirely on you. You blaming the game dev for that time being wasted is like blaming your parents when you eat to much and get a stomach ache.

How did GGG ruin anyones vacation? As much as I feel that this game needs a lot of attention I hardly think that my vacation time during Christmas and New Years is ruined over a game that needs fixing.

i was referring to them announcing a release date and thousands of people taking time of and them delaying the release last second. ( i even linked the video )

I do agree that it´s a bit annoying when planning some vacation time for new games and new leagues and the date gets moved but I wouldn´t go as far as saying that the company ruined my vacation. There is the option to cancel your vacation and save those days for most of us I think and even if you can´t cancel or move your vacation I truly hope that everyone here has something else in their life that they could spend that time on that adds value and enjoyment for them.

I didnt say they shouldn't take time off i said the way they chose to do it is bad.

Would you not agree that they could have handled the release time in a better way?

i havent even complained about this when it happened, its the combination of that and their first action after launch being to go on vacation.

I'd expect they would throw some "goodies" our way or put in some extra effort in attempt to restore some goodwill and not just leave the game for multiple weeks right after release. - thats the opposite of what i would have expected.

It was a mistake to release this just before holidays. Especially in the state the game is in.

I disagree with all these sentiments. For an early access , the game is in a good state. Its stable, the mechnics work, the campaign is liked by most.
The rest will be worked on, as its supposed because it... is... early access.

Taking long holidays aftert he effort it must have been to deliver this version is tottaly understandable and probably neccessary. Burn out is a real thing, you cant do good work if you are over tired and sick of the subject.

With respect, poeple like op and you dont really understand early access. As soon as they get the game, they judge it as a finished product and expect a finished product. Everythign must be fun and perfect or the devs have failed.
If you took vacation just to play it, again, it was your call, you took vacation for an Early access game.

It is early access. it is less then a month of early access. Devs are poeple, who need their holiday. Relax and wait for changes which will come.

You are basically saying that they shouldn't take time off. It is the holidays, thats the time for most people to take vacation. The vast majority of the world is on hiatus to some degree, and your specific situation doesn't change that.

Maybe they could have waited until after the holidays to release, probably would have been a "better" option, but there would still be a ton of people griping about that too so not really. It's a "damned if you do, damned if you dont" situation they are in because of a serious entitlement issue with some of the community. You bought the game knowing it was an early access, which should immediately put in your mind that there may be things wrong. Couple that with their release timing being even remotely close to holidays, it should have been pretty clear to everyone that this was going to take a considerable amount of time.

And they STILL managed to pop out two patches before going on vacation. What AAA studio can say they've done the same? (Quality of the patches debatable, but not the point. Still work done.)

The studio made more than 100 million dollars on the POE2 launch.

If people try to tell me they can't be bothered to have anyone at the office to follow up the product people paid for for more than two weeks right after launch, I'm going to tell you what that means:

THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

That's it.

Wow. That's a nice big, and completely made up, number you got there.

It is the holiday season. Almost every developed country in the world, that is not named USA, see the majority of business basically shutdown for these 2 weeks. Hell, even military drop down to the absolute minimum manning needed to keep the lights on (and call people back if the world catches on fire).

Also, game hasn't launched, it started open beta.

More than 600.000 people bought early access, which is 60 dollars minimum (New Zealand company), and I presume tens of thousands supported it with a lot more, based on POE1 numbers alone.
100 million isn't very far fetched at all, and they will keep milking it for MTX as well.

This idea you have that the world shuts down for two full weeks is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. No. Most people do NOT have 2 full weeks off at all. I live in Norway, and we have 1/2 xmas eve off, then 1. and 2. day, and first day of new year off.
We worked Monday, half Tuesday, Friday, then Monday and Tuesday this week.
In addition loads of people work more than that. Shopkeepers, transportation, healthcare, police, firefighters, etc. All sorts of shift work. Offshore, industry and so forth.

I'm not sure what sheltered life you live, but this idea that you think most people have two weeks full off, and have no responsibility for a product release they charged people money for, is beyond ridiculous.

Your numbers are completely made up, and generally when people use "dollars" without specifying which type it means the USD (world reserve currency).

Players that bought a pack for POE1 got what they got for POE1, that money was spent for POE1. They were given one or more keys, if they got more they may have shared them.

Players that have played, and spent, over years on POE1 got a free invite.

I've lived and worked in multiple countries (Europe and Asia), and in nearly all of them seeing office type workers go on vacation for these two weeks is completely normal. Essential services (like grocery stores and pharmacies) stay open, but even most GP's are unavailable during the holidays (hospitals are, of course, still open). Hell, most the restaurants around me have been closed.
Yeah, I mean they deserve the vacation and it's fine that they are on vacation for a long time. But I wish they released this game first week of Jan instead, completely freshed, all in, they could actively patch the game too.

Because of the vacation time, we haven't received at least 2 big patches. Knowing the devs, that's easily 2 big patches man. I mean i hope they release an optional new league or something with druid and huntress content. So there is a chance for people to start over with no MF, balanced builds etc.
