Patch notes > Making PoE2 like PoE1. Time to look for a new game?
So yhea, the patch notes are bug fixes. And GGG just staying unmovable on some points. Making the game more like PoE1 then anything else. And annoying most if not all of the casual players. Despite them saying PoE1 would be more for the hard core player and PoE2 for the casual. If they keep this up they will just stay with the same userbase as they had in PoE1. But just spread over PoE1 and PoE2. If that is manageable for them, sure, it's their game.
But as a PoE1 player that was hoping all the "crap" that was in PoE1, that could not be removed because it was so hardcoded in the game. Would not be in PoE2. This is a huge let down. This will just be taken over by the hardcore fans that just want PoE1 again. And that's a shame. What do i mean by that: - They will keep the too many effects on screen in game. No matter how you turn it, this will clutter the screen like it always does and make it a bench mark game. Attacks from friends, enemies will stay hard to differentiate from one a other in fight. Specially with the map on top of it. As there is no mention of cleaning up that mess (compas arrows on edge of screen like any other game) - The game will stay a "one shot kill build" is the best build. Making it boring, as no one wants to be the person just walking around picking up loot for too long. Just to do an end boss. or to buy better gear to do the same thing on a higher number map. They campaign had this and was fun. The end game is just like PoE1. No challenge, just tweaking builds and walking around. - End content stays the same. I did not even do a end boss and i already feel bored. There is no incentive to DO a end boss. i got my build. All i can do is get better items to make it stronger to do a map faster. aka, even less challenge. And then do that ill you have the boss keys. - Crafting stays a gotcha system. Instead of just a expensive hard to get the ingredients to build a stat craft game. hell, you can still have that the nr at the end of what you craft is random. But you should be able to get to buidl what you want. This is turning out to be a other "click 2000x to get the right modifier on a item. Then click it with these orbs to MAYBE get the item you want". Like in PoE1. And it was boring and uninteresting to sit at a screen clicking 2000x to have the mod pop up. And to not be zoned out that much that you clicked past it. How can they be so stubborn to think that's good crafting. - No customizable UI, but at least they will keep it in mind. Not talking about having other skins on the HP bar etc. But moving/hiding all windows around should always be a option. I don't want my chat to be on the location it is at. it's covering party screen. And as i have my HP and Mana centered, i would lover to lower it to be on the side of the screen. Buffs and debuff's i would want on the bottom above my XP bar so it's all grouped. - AH might get there, but we will see. And for the haters. We already have one, it's just a old system via the site. We want it in game so we can put stuff for sale and not be online to sell it. That's all we really want. - Atlas stays like a Delve map. And that's just boring. No one wants to do 10 maps to do the map they like to do. This is the one of the things that was good in PoE1 that they did not bring over. They could still make the Atlas as it is atm as a other game option, like delve was. - They are not sure there is a waystone sustain problem? Are they serious? All you get from a T10 map are T5-7 maps. Fi any (and that's with all the atlas points you can have to increase that and rare mobs etc). It should be same Tier, 1T lower and 1T higher dropping. Me and my friends are literally doing public parties and now just not playing anymore as we have no more maps. and we aint gone buy them. because no map = no loot to use TO buy them. Are they just looking at the top 10% of players? - Rarity/Magic find in this game are just there to have ppl make a second account with a buffer character to follow you around. And buff you and make more loot drop; Because this is possible and ppl do it, even in PoE1. It should be addressed. i don't want to need to make 2 characters just to get loot. And the data/feedback they use is also from these ppl. That see no problem with all this. Making them think it's all ok. And the hardcore gamers thinking it's normal to do this. Be it a second account or a friend having to go full magic find and buffs to make the gage payout loot. Is a badly balanced mechanic. - Keeping the XP on death is a mistake. The game should take time for you to get to max lvl. But losing sometimes a week of gameplay progress in 1 death is not fun. It frustrates more then anything. And is one of the reasons i don't even try to level anymore. It is not fun to even try anymore. Making it feel like there is no more progress. Making it feel like the game is finished for that player and the completed it. There might be end bosses and loads more content. But because that req better gear. That i can't really get unless i play a lot of boring maps and hope i get some good loot. And leveling is not a incentive to keep going. It might as well not be there. As it would take to much boring stuff to get a chance at that part of the game. And you just sign off to go play something else where you feel like you keep making progress. O and i played Black desert, so i am used to slow progress. But at least it was there. I only lost 1% XP on death. And i could make that up in like 1h of playing at high level. And BDO was also boring and progress slow as hell to grind. But it felt like more progress then this. And that game was what i would call the absolute slowest progress game i have ever played. And it had WAAAAY more problems then PoE2. -7/8th Ascendancy should be hard. But not this hard/boring. It's not fun to do. And it takes WAAAAAY to long to do 1 try. I will happily pay for a 7/8the point if it means skipping all that hassle. Even if i could solo it. And that's not how that should be. Most casualty will feel like they should enjoy trying it. Make progress while trying it. instead of dreading to do it again. It was boring in PoE1. But holy s did you make it so much worse in PoE2. Also, i did not find any real benefits on my build with the 7/8the points. Felt like it was just a boost i could get from gear. Last bumped on Jan 13, 2025, 12:31:29 PM

" There is a waystone sustain problem that goes away if you know exactly how to game the waystone drops. I think sometimes there aren't enough fresh eyes and "can get to T15 in 30 maps" ignores the gearing required to do that - if you have the gear to juice your waystones from T5+ you absolutely can do that. But there are humps - T10 being a big one, where the early map gear no longer keeps people alive and reducing juice isn't an option because the waystones are no longer dropping Extra bosses should help here, as they are a reliable source of at-level waystones regardless of juice Last edited by Strangehill#1736 on Jan 13, 2025, 6:22:21 AM

except poe 1 is still 10x better because there are no broken uniques like howa
|
|
Yes, go look for another game (that doesn't exist) because PoE2 will possibly (almost definitely) follow the same design track that PoE1 did (because the "vision" doesn't make money).

" Mageblood is pretty broken but fixes the flask piano issue so they built an entire new game to get around it! Svallinn is the broken unique du jour |
|
" mageblood is a chase item, howa isn't mageblood isn't mandatory, and it's actually bad on some builds, but howa is the only way to scale damage for most attack builds svalinn won't survive Last edited by auspexa#1404 on Jan 13, 2025, 6:32:53 AM

" 1. First off the full patch notes arent out yet. Secondly the points they went over was alot more then bug fixes. I would elaborate but it would be quicker to just tell you to watch the video again. 2. Alot of the "effects" you are talking about they said they had made more visible and nerfed the damage and cast range of. They litterally went over this excact issue like you described it, i dont think youve watched the full interview. You should wait until the patch notes come and read them before being this critical. 3. Where did they say that the game will be "one shot kill build"? They only said that they wanted to wait with big nerfs until they do a economy reset, they even specificly said that the current kill speed of bosses was too fast in terms of what they intended. So again your just saying the opposite of what they presented. 4. You feel bored and you havent done any of the bosses. Then how can you say that the end game content is bad? Your not making any sense. Also its obvious that more content will come when its ready. 5. Crafting is the one point I to some extent agree with you on. They didnt say that it will stay a "gotcha" system tho, they just said that they tought more league mechanics with crafting rewards would fix the problems. Which I found a little disapointing that they didnt do some changes to the core crafting system to atleast allow some deterministic option for the first 1-2 affixes. 6. Again they didnt say there wouldnt be ui improvements or changes, just that they wouldnt allow addons like in wow. But that they would fix/improve things that people bring up. 7. Them sticking to the atlas map abit longer to try it out I think is fair. I think we should atleast try out the changes they said they had made to maps to make them more rewarding as a base before saying its bad. 8. There litterally is no waystone sustain problem. I get so many T14-15 waystones im vendoring them. The problem is that you dont know how to sustain. And perhaps this is a problem that the information on how to sustain isnt available enough in the game. But if you know how to play the game then waystone sustain is not at all a problem. 9. Thats not how rarity is being issued for the most case. What most people do is just get rarity on their own gear, because it has a deminishing return so you only need to get around 100-130% rarity and it drops off alot. And you can get like 25% or something just from your atlas? So again its not really that hard. Some people like rarity, some people dont like it, but its not as big of an issue as people want to pretend it is. 10. You have never lost a weeks worth of progress in 1 death, please if your gonna make an argument stay realistic. There are good reasons for why the exp penalty is there and they have explained it multiple times, even in this interview, and alot of players want the exp penalty to stay. Ofc its fine for you to want it to be changed, but they have given you an answer now. 11. Personally I think the difficulty of the last ascendancy is fine. But I wouldnt personally mind or care if they wanted to reduce it but I understand where their coming from with wanting it to be a real challenge. Also this will be made easier for some classes when the 3rd way to ascend becomes available. | |
" Please stop claiming PoE1/2 end game requires skills. You just need the right environment like infinite time == unemployment, daddy's credit card and an anti social life style. |
