Patch notes > Making PoE2 like PoE1. Time to look for a new game?

"
Just saying "not true" doesn't magically change the experience I showed above

The drops for at-level waystones start tanking around T8, by T10 I was lucky if I saw one T10 in 5 maps drop, if I'd have seen this coming earlier I would have saved all the boss maps for higher tiers

It's not true. Simple, you're doing something wrong. Nothing is stopping you from juicing a T1 Waystone and getting a bunch of higher tier waystones. Or reforging the T1's to get t2 or t3 and juicing those. You will get higher Tier waystones drop in this way, but no, you rather lie on the forum and pretend it's unsustainable.
*sigh* so much bad faith in this forum

I am not lying. I am saying exactly what I experienced. I explained how I overcame it. I am of the opinion that the humps are clunky at best.

So yhea, the patch notes are bug fixes. And GGG just staying unmovable on some points. Making the game more like PoE1 then anything else. And annoying most if not all of the casual players. Despite them saying PoE1 would be more for the hard core player and PoE2 for the casual. If they keep this up they will just stay with the same userbase as they had in PoE1. But just spread over PoE1 and PoE2. If that is manageable for them, sure, it's their game.

But as a PoE1 player that was hoping all the "crap" that was in PoE1, that could not be removed because it was so hardcoded in the game. Would not be in PoE2. This is a huge let down. This will just be taken over by the hardcore fans that just want PoE1 again. And that's a shame.

What do i mean by that:
- They will keep the too many effects on screen in game. No matter how you turn it, this will clutter the screen like it always does and make it a bench mark game. Attacks from friends, enemies will stay hard to differentiate from one a other in fight. Specially with the map on top of it. As there is no mention of cleaning up that mess (compas arrows on edge of screen like any other game)

- The game will stay a "one shot kill build" is the best build. Making it boring, as no one wants to be the person just walking around picking up loot for too long. Just to do an end boss. or to buy better gear to do the same thing on a higher number map. They campaign had this and was fun. The end game is just like PoE1. No challenge, just tweaking builds and walking around.

- End content stays the same. I did not even do a end boss and i already feel bored. There is no incentive to DO a end boss. i got my build. All i can do is get better items to make it stronger to do a map faster. aka, even less challenge. And then do that ill you have the boss keys.

- Crafting stays a gotcha system. Instead of just a expensive hard to get the ingredients to build a stat craft game. hell, you can still have that the nr at the end of what you craft is random. But you should be able to get to buidl what you want. This is turning out to be a other "click 2000x to get the right modifier on a item. Then click it with these orbs to MAYBE get the item you want". Like in PoE1. And it was boring and uninteresting to sit at a screen clicking 2000x to have the mod pop up. And to not be zoned out that much that you clicked past it. How can they be so stubborn to think that's good crafting.

- No customizable UI, but at least they will keep it in mind. Not talking about having other skins on the HP bar etc. But moving/hiding all windows around should always be a option. I don't want my chat to be on the location it is at. it's covering party screen. And as i have my HP and Mana centered, i would lover to lower it to be on the side of the screen. Buffs and debuff's i would want on the bottom above my XP bar so it's all grouped.

- AH might get there, but we will see. And for the haters. We already have one, it's just a old system via the site. We want it in game so we can put stuff for sale and not be online to sell it. That's all we really want.

- Atlas stays like a Delve map. And that's just boring. No one wants to do 10 maps to do the map they like to do. This is the one of the things that was good in PoE1 that they did not bring over. They could still make the Atlas as it is atm as a other game option, like delve was.

- They are not sure there is a waystone sustain problem? Are they serious? All you get from a T10 map are T5-7 maps. Fi any (and that's with all the atlas points you can have to increase that and rare mobs etc). It should be same Tier, 1T lower and 1T higher dropping. Me and my friends are literally doing public parties and now just not playing anymore as we have no more maps. and we aint gone buy them. because no map = no loot to use TO buy them. Are they just looking at the top 10% of players?

- Rarity/Magic find in this game are just there to have ppl make a second account with a buffer character to follow you around. And buff you and make more loot drop; Because this is possible and ppl do it, even in PoE1. It should be addressed. i don't want to need to make 2 characters just to get loot. And the data/feedback they use is also from these ppl. That see no problem with all this. Making them think it's all ok. And the hardcore gamers thinking it's normal to do this. Be it a second account or a friend having to go full magic find and buffs to make the gage payout loot. Is a badly balanced mechanic.

- Keeping the XP on death is a mistake. The game should take time for you to get to max lvl. But losing sometimes a week of gameplay progress in 1 death is not fun. It frustrates more then anything. And is one of the reasons i don't even try to level anymore. It is not fun to even try anymore. Making it feel like there is no more progress. Making it feel like the game is finished for that player and the completed it. There might be end bosses and loads more content. But because that req better gear. That i can't really get unless i play a lot of boring maps and hope i get some good loot. And leveling is not a incentive to keep going. It might as well not be there. As it would take to much boring stuff to get a chance at that part of the game. And you just sign off to go play something else where you feel like you keep making progress. O and i played Black desert, so i am used to slow progress. But at least it was there. I only lost 1% XP on death. And i could make that up in like 1h of playing at high level. And BDO was also boring and progress slow as hell to grind. But it felt like more progress then this. And that game was what i would call the absolute slowest progress game i have ever played. And it had WAAAAY more problems then PoE2.

-7/8th Ascendancy should be hard. But not this hard/boring. It's not fun to do. And it takes WAAAAAY to long to do 1 try. I will happily pay for a 7/8the point if it means skipping all that hassle. Even if i could solo it. And that's not how that should be. Most casualty will feel like they should enjoy trying it. Make progress while trying it. instead of dreading to do it again. It was boring in PoE1. But holy s did you make it so much worse in PoE2. Also, i did not find any real benefits on my build with the 7/8the points. Felt like it was just a boost i could get from gear.

+1

POE2 is just a remastered POE1. As long as I'm stuck in the past with XP penalties, I'm not going back to the game.

8. There litterally is no waystone sustain problem. I get so many T14-15 waystones im vendoring them. The problem is that you dont know how to sustain. And perhaps this is a problem that the information on how to sustain isnt available enough in the game. But if you know how to play the game then waystone sustain is not at all a problem.

There is a waystone sustain problem, just not at T15. The problem is lower, where sustaining the level you're at is really tricky. If you're running say, T8, you'll get T3s and 4s dropping, and the occasional T10 and 11, but not enough at the level you're trying to sustain.

So, without knowing what else to do when you run out of T8s, you run that T10, only to die, because you stuck an alch on it and you weren't geared enough. With every tier, the affixes get harder (e.g. extra chaos starts appearing) but without scours there's no way back from that

What to do now? Well, buying waystones via trade site is a mess so you think, "I'll run the one T11 I have only I'll keep it at magic and hope that the affix it rolls isn't too bad"

Only now, there is very low waystone drop chance, and you get a T5 and 6 drop

It is fairly easy to overcome if you go back to trade and get gear that maxes your resists, but it isn't obvious as you only realise the issue once it's blown through your few maps, and now you're back at T6 when you really want to be T9

Well maybe I spoke too broadly.
Ive leveled two different chars now and didnt have this problem on either one of them.
From the feedback ive heard I suspect that the problem is that people are dying too often and losing their waystones that way?

It's possible I died too much, but it was mainly down to only having higher tier waystones and not ones I had managed to clear comfortably before. It's a surprise, apparently only to me, that the rarest waystone when I run a T8 is T8 itself (I tried specing out of higher tier maps on the atlas as well, and that just made everything lower)

I will agree that its sometimes weird how I can get T1 waystones in a T15 map, and I guess also rng can play a big part atleast in the start when you have less of a "bank" of maps. So in the early start when you alredy have few maps and maybe die once or twice and have bad rng it could be a problem.

I might have been wrong, I tought of it only from a t14-15 perspective. Here I dont think its an issue at all, at lower levels it might be more of a problem then I realise, I havent played enough.

I don't now I played completely blind until t15 and just recently learned that suffixes on maps increased the waystone drop chance and have just been putting two mods on my maps until t15. I have so many maps that I now have two stash tabs 1 for lower end (1-10) and one for higher end (11-15).

I guess I haven't run into a build that completely bricks by increasing the tier by a couple where I'm stuck at something like tier 8 only
Patch notes? What patch notes?

T10-ish is when things like extra chaos damage start appearing and the numbers get higher on other affixes. I didn't have my resists high enough plainly, but not having capped resists on a T8 and not having capped resists on a T10 produce very different outcomes, or at least they did for me

Again, overcame by capping resists. But not before I had tore through my very small at-or-above level map pool as I was apparently incapable of sustaining maps at the level I wanted them at, either too low or too high. Interestingly enough, lower tier boss maps tended towards dropping 1 level higher which is kind of why I expected this to continue happening and why I didn't hit this until around T8

If you want to run T8, but only higher maps dropping are T10, and those T10 then dropping T13, that seems clunky to me. I had to effectively gear from ~T8 level straight to T15 to overcome it.

Maybe non-boss maps shouldn't just drop lower tiers and boss maps shouldn't be so hasty to drop tiers 3 levels higher, there seems like an untapped middle ground there

Though as I said initially, increasing the number of boss maps should make this problem disappear

LOL, most players are probably "better than me" and I have no problem with that :) But; reaching the PoE end game, sustaining some maps and kill a pinnacle boss or two during a season doesn't need lots of "gaming skills", it's mostly about having the time and putting in some effort like the patience to grind for hours and some guide-reading.

You will rather find the bruising ego's among the people on these forums typing "Git gud" and "skill issue" every time a casual player suggest some changes to the GGG PoE 2 vision - just like someone did above.

Casual in PoE is not necessarily being a bad player, it's about not needing to no-life completely to enjoy the end game. Enjoying the end game with a reasonable game time invested. Due to several of the current game design decision, this is problematic.

I would disagree to your first point, I think the game requires alot higher skill (atleast compared to other arpgs). My reasoning for this is that what most people are complaining about arent things that are related to time spent.
Its always either some punishment for dying or mechanics being too hard. Ofc they usually dont say this outright they instead use some language to suggest the mechanic is broken, invisible or a bug. So I would agree that if your pretty good at video games then the game isnt insanely hard, but compared to the average gamer then not dying at high end content does require a decent amount of skill.

I've seen lots of threads about the XP penalty, mob respawns and 100+ map grind needed to spawn 1 boss with 1-try mechanic (which will be addressed this week). This is very much about time. When the game is hard, you just play more carefully. Again - time.

I would agree with you that his comment is stupid and not constructive, but I would also say that your comment isnt any better, instead of adressing his comment your just slagging off the game and the people who are performing well in it.

I did address his comment. I also "slagged off" the game a little, yes. In my eyes, PoE2 is fantastic ea game with a great foundation, I just find the "GGG vision" a very poorly executed change from PoE1, and also a huge mistake. They could easily made this game "easier" and less punishing, while running a second game mode a la Ruthless alongside with the current setup. We try to share our view and present constructive suggestions in this feedback forum, only to be cut off by the Git Gud GGG always know best fanboyism.
