XP loss on death is a good and normal thing.

Taking away XP in a video game is NOT normal. Fact.

It is the NORM in good arpg. Fact.

Think of your level and XP in PoE2 as of a rank in most of the other games with ranking. Dota, Hearthstone, Chess, whatever..

You climb up by winning, if you die, you lose your ranking. This is a completely normal system that separates the players who rarely ever lose from those who lose too often to progress on their rank. XP loss keeps you at a level where you currently belong.

If you improve your character or skill, you will die less often and progress to the next level over time.

If you feel like you should be level 100 in PoE2, but you are not BECAUSE of XP loss on death... That is exactly the same like if a Chess player would complain that they are not ranking XXX BECAUSE their ranking got reduced on a lost match.
Of course it did!

Level 100 in PoE2 is the ultimate top. Only the best of the best ones will achieve it.
XP loss on death is a system that keeps you at the level where you currently belong.

I don't mean to offend anybody. I know it can be frustrating to lose XP, same as losing your rank in any other game, but please stop complaining and with a calm mind, think about it.

i think ur not well if u think this exp lose is ok, i literally died 5 times today on lvl 91, i still manage to somehow get to 80% but on my life i feel so robbed i dont feel rewarded at all!!!!!!!! this exp lose is miserable experience, this is the worst thing i ever experienced since dead by daylight.
Seriosly? Learnig how tu succed in making a viable build should be normal.

But what is the reward for getting to 92? 5 attribute points? 12% attack/projectile/evasion/energy shield/etc?

You can go on trade and buy a gear in 5 seconds for the same reward, and 10 times less stress I don't get it, what reward are you aiming for? To see the number grow from 91-92? If that's all you're playing the game for it's probably time to move on.

Really? And what about all of those games when you lose ranks when you lose? For example League of Legends or Heartstone? In those games you can go even under your current level which is far more punishing.

How about those players who doesn't want to play ranks? Do you get a passive point that buffs your character each time you rank up in those games?

Again, don't satisfy your argument with false examples.

I mean the argument against it is nothing other then "it's wasting my time", there's no great reward or unlock at the end of the tunnel it's people just mindlessly wanting to grind for nothing and complaining because they get penalized? You arnt gaining anything so why does the level even matter I'm confused? No one has once explained to me on these posts what it is they expect to get at level 100 that they can't already have at level 80 or 90. It's mind boggling, why is you want level 100 so bad?
