Unpopular opinion : I like the crafting system of PoE2
" Thats really interesting. I got your point. While playing the EA of PoE2, I was playing with mates of my guild. We all discuss about the game while playing it. At a point, I was act 3 normal lvl 35+, I said to my mates than I was happy cause I crafted some really good gear. Like I had 4-5 stuf, made by myself with the few exalted I dropped and I show them my items. Almost all of them said it was some really good items indeed, and they were unlucky cause they got nothing. To have an idea, all of them didnt play SSF and Im pretty sure even they didnt recognize it that they didnt use exalted, cause they probably keep it for trade. For them, I was just lucky, thats it. For me, its the same with what you are saying. Its more a question about the mentality you have while playing PoE2, that the effectiveness of loot and luck. Everytime I have 500k gold or more, I use it to buy stuff from Alva. 2 days ago, I got a magic wand with a +4 lvl of fire spell like that then I craft it to have a really good wand that replace my +3 fire spell wand on my fire mage. Yesterday, while playing my monk, I got a really 1400 evasion chest, with +150 life and 2 rez that replace my old 1000 eva chest without life. Both of this happened in my last 10h playing the T15 maps. But yeah, if I used my 4 divine looted to buy some amazing stuff, ofc I would have the feeling that everything I drop is really bad. Cause I "kind of" cheated to have that amazing stuff, so I didnt follow the rythm of the game. Its like playing a plateform game, taking a shortcut at the middle of it to go directly to the last boss, and then saying its too hard and feeling the game bad and unbalanced. And again, its not about luck. Its about the way you play the game and the mentality you have. If the only important thing for you in T15 maps are divine and T15 maps, you have no idea if on the dozens of rares you loot on map, a really good stuff is not among it ? To have an idea, I use 4-6 portals in every map to come back with my loot. But yeah I agree, it would be boring and no fun for people. But again, its not because you dont have what you want the way you play, it makes PoE2 a game with a bad crafting system... Last edited by Legoury#0138 on Feb 1, 2025, 9:12:44 AM

yup, that is certainly an unpopular opinion. At least one thing was correct in this post.

Yes, they actually did a good job.
But the premise is that you will feel all this is wonderful when playing in single-player mode without trading. Unfortunately, in the normal online mode, these advantages are covered by the RMT studio using AI scripts, and it is obvious that this is not a stand-alone game. Another point is that you will find that in order to force you to use the trading system, the dropped items are basically not your current character's but other characters' equipment. You can get a good equipment base to make good equipment, but most of the time it is not the equipment used by your character. 90% of the equipment dropped by me as a witch is a thin staff, bow and arrow, and hammer. Their original intention is to let you use the excellent equipment you make or drop to exchange for the equivalent currency and then exchange it for the equipment you need, to promote the application of player social and trading systems. First of all, the imbalance of BD makes some equipment very expensive and some very worthless even if the attribute affixes are very good, and then the inflation of AI scripts widens this gap, especially above 82 equipment levels. This problem is more serious, which weakens this advantage. Last edited by ki784340143#8116 on Feb 1, 2025, 9:19:33 AM

" I played PoE1 since beta and I could tell you a thing : GGG was NEVER for a trading system. They implement this cause too many players want it. But again by design, their game are not made to play around trading system. And I dont know if Im biaised, or if its because of my loot filter (made myself with homemade filter, amazing job by who dev this btw). But I have the feeling to find more wand when playing my witch, and more staff while playing my monk. And in anycase, this design is made to push you to play more the game, by reroll a new character to play the good stuff you looted. Every game are doing that now. |

" In a platform game, I'd try to find the shortcut to get a “higher score” (if that makes sense). We simply don 't have the same way of approaching the game. And that's perfectly okay :) SSF mode exists for a reason. |
|
" what?! they stated multiple times that trade is a vital part of the game, that's why they never ever did any 'soul-bound' crap. they were talking this since i can remember |
|
" Maybe you are right, but no matter what the purpose is, the result is that most of the dropped equipment is not for the current character. And if I want to get more equipment bases above 82 equipment level without relying on trading, I have to train another character who can pass the T16+2 difficulty. For people like me who are not interested in playing other characters, the resistance is a bit big. So people who play like me still need to use the trading system. If there is no RMT studio that uses AI scripts rampantly, these can't be considered disadvantages. This design is even an advantage, but the current situation makes me feel that this is a disadvantage. Because GGG has not taken any effective measures so far. " Stop doing breach. Then you'll realize breach is just broken and unhealthy for the game. It's the biggest offender. Also the reason why I was advocating against having loot filters at all in early access. Loot filters just obscure all loot problems because instead of considering too much loot as a problem players just hide more items. Last edited by DemonikPath#1311 on Feb 1, 2025, 10:00:31 AM

" Who said anything about breach? Atm I farm more ToC than anything else, if I go back to maps it's to find invitations or even rarely to farm a few citadels (but I get bored quickly because the end-game map system is a mess from my point of view). " I'm not a native English speaker (I use a translator to interact) but despite the translation I don't understand the meaning of this sentence. |

" I think what he meant is that the filter just helps you ignore the problem, because the filter only hides useless drops and prompts useful drops, not that the drops themselves increase their value. Last edited by ki784340143#8116 on Feb 1, 2025, 10:20:10 AM
