Actually the opposite, if I know something to be meta I actively avoid it. I play whatever, fully accepting it might bite me in endgame. Not every playthrough will be a success and it's ok, if you're 54 you might remember Prince of Persia there and countless other, hard games.

Oh the slog through the campaign, you mean the beautifully, artfully crafted campaign that you can experience with different characters? Didn't Diablo 2 have only campaign, and is kind of religiously played still by many? Please remind me my 54 yo friend.

Anyway, the campaign is soon to be completly trivialized, and complaints like yours will just speed up the process. Can't wait for it and ruthless mode, so I can enjoy the game as it was meant to be, and you can mindlessly blitz through it to get to your dopamine shot loot mountains.

Though, if for you the campaign is a slog, and you can't wait to leave a zone as soon as you arrive, maybe the game really isn't for you? Just a thought.

To "work" means you can defeat the game and even pinnacles with the skill. I poe2 only one skill I know of works and it is played by 70% of the playerbase according to actual stats.

In poe1 hunfldreds of builds work. J once defeated Maven with Chain Hook even.
