Betrayal's Sting No Damage
" You are right that the DPS ramps up at first, meaning you'd have to let the poison run out and look at the difference in total damage done to get to the 77% expected difference. Considering the ramping up is linear over the poison duration, the average DPS over the ramp up period would be half of the average dps when fully ramped up. So we can look at the scenario were the boss dies at the end of the ramp up time for the character with rings, which lets the character with no rings the most extra time at full DPS proportionally, the character with two rings would still have done 1.77 times half his peak DPS on average. With X the time it takes the character with my rings to kill the target with A health, the other character did 1/1.77 (~0.565) of that damage in X, then it's doing double the DPS over Y, with X+Y the time it takes the character with no ring to kill the boss. The boss still has A*(1-0.565), or ~43.5% of A health. The character with no ring is doing 2/1.77=~1.13 times the DPS that the ring character did in X, so Y=X*0.435/1.13, Y=X*0.385, so it takes the character with no rings 1.385 times longer to kill the boss. In other words with rings you kill the boss 38.5% faster when kill time = poison duration, which is as one would expect half of the expect "sheet DPS" increase. The longer the kill time, the more the increase in DPS tends towards 77%. Considering my kill times are quite a bit longer than my poison duration I should kill the boss more than 38.5% faster. In reality we are well below that. Feel free to double check my math, it's quick napkin math and I'm not really a math guy, but it only serves to illustrate the obvious IMHO: with 77% chance to double poison I should see a much higher increase in damage than a 22% faster kill time. I'm testing it the other way using the same video.
Looking at how much life the boss had lost over 4 seconds, beginning from when the first Pconc explosion. Without the ring first explosion at 1:13, with rings it's 2:23 . Looking at the boss HP at timemark 1:17 (50% life loss) and 2:27 (75% life loss). Just looking at these seems quite in line with 77% DPS increase. I'm not sure how to do frame counting on youtube to be more exact heh. |

" Here: https://imgur.com/a/betrayals-sting-test-BX6r9yg Took screenshots from the player with precise timestamps (bottom right). First frame when the poison effect appears on the boss, first frame when life goes below 50%, and first frame the boss dies and his health bar disappears. I'm using vanilla viper strike and I *think* I'm seeing the appropriate damage increase but it's hard to say, turning Herald of Agony of feels more impactful than wearing one ring with 40% chance I know this argument has been done to death at this point but stuff like this is why players are always asking for a test dummy in hideout Regardless, the time and energy going into helping players troubleshoot this is much appreciated |

" Thanks. If you can check the boss HP at 2:27:15. i.e. in the same period that no-ring does 50% HP damage, how much HP damage the ring set-up do. Expecting if ring's working, the boss remaining HP should be at 15%-25% level. |
